At a time when the world is watching to see what happens next. How does the current world situation make any sense? We have the lessons of history.
There is a massive war. Someone wins. Twenty years later we’re all trading together again as if nothing happened. Why can’t we grow up and skip the war part?
I wrote the following this morning and posted it on Facebook. I decided to post it here too. The only thing I can do is to use my voice, so I am.
There are mentions of current world situations. To be clear I’m not on any side except that of the innocents.
Whomever you are, wherever you are, however you live your life, no matter the colour of your natural sunbloc (skin), I wish you a life of peace, prosperity, and happiness.
There are millions upon millions like me, overwhelming numbers do not want war and can respect others. Never forget that, and speak out.
Another despairing attempt to save lives
“It never goes out of your mind”
Quote from a D-Day survivor.
Around 100 years old and still carrying THAT every day.
Our young people struggle with school. We’re constantly hear about their mental health.
This is why the teaching of history is so important. It can do so much to remind you how lucky you are.
Tiny children and babies were in Auschwitz. Teenagers. The public in all affected countries lived through total war. Total war meaning the innocent were intentional targets for bombing.
We in Europe and America killed millions in order to demoralise and wipe out resistance. Fortunately Europe, is hanging on to the lesson, well most of Europe.
Long may we continue to respect the lesson because that’s the only way to respect their sacrifice. Peace is the only true apology.
I do not support what’s happening in Gaza, I’m glad that now as a nation we the people stand against it. But history teaches us that lesson. Without the teaching of history we wouldn’t know how wrong this is.
History teachers need to hammer the messages of the world wars to help young people today see how blessed they are. The troubles they don’t have. So far, in the UK, my generation, born shortly after WWII is the only one of the last three who has walked their streets in peace.
Soldiers have still fought and died elsewhere though. 💖
If there was more respect for the lessons of history we wouldn’t be where we are now.
The Israelis wanted a home because of the disgusting treatment of the Holocaust. They wanted to feel safe. The making of that home displaced another people, and has led to the current situation. A people who have never felt safe since.
Displaced in their own nation. Now brutally murdered, maimed, and starved, due to the action of a small number.
Just because one group of men did a disgusting thing to create exactly this. I’d want to flatten everything, but I wouldn’t, because I do believe in “Thou Shalt not Kill”, and because the only way this stops is to learn the lessons, and remember one thing. War never works.
Because the children did not do this. But they hate now and understandably so.
Millions of terrorists now have Israel in their sights. It takes an idiot not to see that.
We are all soul – all equal – all children of the same universe.
History shows us the futility. Europe includes Germany in D-Day memorials and together we all remember the futility as one, as it should be. Only together do we prevent it happening again. We understand that they suffered terribly too, didn’t want to fight and die.
That’s how you heal. Look at history.
That’s how you recognise your good fortune. Look at history.
That’s how we finally bring this world together, look at history, and be the change.
Many of us do have the courage. Use your voice if you can. At least let’s go down fighting in the right way.
“No innocents were harmed during the final fight for peace.”
With love to you all, especially those in war torn and violent situations.
