Voice of the Heart: Being Yourself

The Voice of the Heart theme is partly about freeing us from the effects of society and protecting our mental and physical health.

This is important because you create your future based on your actions, and your wellbeing is directly affected by the things you put up with.

You might feel brave and sensible for putting up with things that make you unhappy, stress you out, cause you to grind your teeth to dust, but it’s not brave and not sensible.

You weren’t born to provide your dentist with a good lifestyle.

Yes society tells us not to be quitters, we should stick with things, it pays well, and so on. But the penalty for not quitting can be high in stress related illnesses!

What do you want?

To live your life stressfully doing the right thing. Or to live your life happily and healthily?

Never forget the difference between doing the right thing and the right thing to do.

Never forget what your actions teach your children.

The choice is simple.

Why not write a list of things that stress you out, and change them gradually.

Remember not to tell people what you intend, that adds pressure. People reminding you a year later you haven’t done it.

Take it slow and steady, get it right.

Poetic Interlude

I did the right thing

For 17 years
of the best years of my life
My youth sacrificed
because I made a promise to the wrong person

‘Til death us do part’ nearly killed me
I was erased by someone
I was being stoic
Not living

I was in a job so wrong for me
but daddy got me the job
and dared me not to succeed

I gave my heart to it
and my colleagues handed it back
in pieces

It got better
but it still was not worth it
The place was not for a creative

The wrong road is dark
Full of potholes
Muddy from the tears of those
who have also walked that road

No lights
No direction
No end

Until you step off the path
and find your own

We all have a right path
We all have the right to walk that path
We are unique

No one is not good enough for happiness
No one deserves to struggle
because previous generations did
No one is limited by those around them
Or who have gone before

No one should make themselves small
to make those around them powerful

The more you thrive
The more you give those around you permission to fly

You become hope
An inspiration
Someone they want to emulate

If you left a bad job
They will
If you left a bad marriage
They will
If you worked hard and made something
of your life
They will too

You see
It’s not all about you
Societies traps are often created
by those who never considered success
Or those who need slave labour

You leave that behind
You walk away
You create your own path
Walk it joyfully
And you become a beacon of hope
All the time you’re saving yourself

Summing up

Either you are who you’re meant to be, or you’re never truly yourself.

What dreams have you buried? Is it time to resurrect them?

If you’re stuck but not sure you have dreams, find one.

Whatever it takes to slide into the grave with a glass of champagne in both hands yelling “woo hoo what a ride!”

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
