What is the common good? We are all unique Different backgrounds Different ideas Different worlds
We don’t speak the same language Worship the same God Live the same lives with the same trappings Believe the same things
Our homes are different We are nomads at home where we are Live ‘civilised’ lives In crammed stacks Maybe in the sky Where the building sways in the wind We live in the streets In shelters With rats Damp and mould
We live on mountains and plains In forests and caves In cities and villages Side by side On top of each other Or so separated We don’t know that there is ‘other’
We are different genders Races and creeds Have different wealth As separate as night and day Or live in the middle Grey lives Wake - work - sleep - repeat Can’t afford the holiday that we’ve worked so hard for Or food
How in this world Of slums and private jets Ancient Buddhas and cheap junk Of natural heritage Or so ‘civilised’ That our heritage is lost in time and nature no longer runs through our veins How then can there be a common good?
The children The innocents They are the common good In every corner of the world
If so called leaders Thought only of the children We could repair this world in a single heartbeat There could be no war No violence of any kind No lying or cheating or stealing There could only be love
The love only the face of a child can inspire The awe of a child’s smile Their innocence These things are the important things These things heal War stops Trafficking stops Terror stops Hate ceases to exist
Laugh at me if you will Or ask how you would feel if that were your child screaming It is not enough that your child is safe Well fed Whole It is not
Can you call for peace? Can you feel gratitude for your safety? If you can Remember No child is safe anymore Think on that And be part of the solution
Peace is the common good If you have the courage If you can put your race colour and creed Even your God To one side And be the peace the world needs So that the innocent can stop screaming

For the Ukraine, Gaza, The 7th October victims and hostages And all victims of war and violence including the animals For humanities sake - just STOP!
I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
