All the Things You Cannot Feel

Close down they say

Don’t feel the world
It is too muddled
Too angry
Too painful
Be afraid
Be very afraid

I love you they say
Then they go away
So you do not ever feel love
In the same way again

I’m your friend they say
Then they’re gone
Like mist on an autumn morning
One moment there and beautiful
The next burned away
Forever

If you do what I say you’ll be okay
They say
But you do and you aren’t
Because they’re not pleased
You’re wrong
Even though they told you
You would be right

In the end you do not feel
Why feel?
Why put yourself through it?
Be a skier
Glide over the surface of life
Don’t dig deep
Don’t have the full experience
It might hurt too much

The trouble is that in refusing the full experience
You only allow yourself the part that hurts
In refusing to love
You let the past kill love
Containing it in a locked cage with no key
A beautiful songbird that wishes to be free

Be brave
Feel it all
Because in the all there is
Joy
Love
Laughter
Hopes
Dreams
They’re all in there somewhere

Alongside the unhappy
There is joyful
Alongside the anger
There is hope
Alongside the betrayal
There are new friends
And
Alongside the romantic disappointment
There is real love
Soul love

These are all the things you can feel
Focus on the good feelings
Allow them to heal the negative ones
And you will finally live fully and completely
As a soul that is not scared to go out
And be fearlessly alive!

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
