Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Even as a toddler I told my parents that unkindness was stupid. I was born believing that. I don’t know why, but I’ve never seen the need to look at anyone and find them unacceptably different. I find different fascinating.

As I watch the world today I wonder at the state of humanity, how can we be evolving by getting worse? How can we care so little for each other, from the small things right through to running around with an offensive weapon, just because? I’m at a loss with it all.

Twinkle twinkle little star

How I wonder where you are?
No longer sharing the same sky,
Shot by a moron driving by.
Here she is, another star,
Working nights behind a bar,
After work dragged round the back,
Five times raped and five times hacked.

There he goes so full of life,
Just to fall before a knife.
There she goes, the fruit of youth,
Murdered for a foreign truth.

Walking down the street one day,
Beneath a sky of leaden grey,
One big bang, no time to scream,
That’s the last time they were seen.

In their church they met their God,
Slaughtered for a different God,
No call for peace, no word of hope
Will ever help survivors cope.

A child she, an infant he,
Killed by immorality.
Adults we will never know,
Pain we know will never go.

A cat, a dog, a horse, a tree,
All can be killed too easily.
Water poisoned, earth on fire,
Humanity? Now who’s the liar?

What’s the answer – don’t ask me,
So often we cannot agree.
And so the pain goes on and on,
Can’t we just say that ‘this is wrong’?

Where’s the hope and where’s the end?
Where’s the path to being friends?
Where’s the strength without the fire
When preaching to too many choirs?

Throughout these lines there was no race
The victims could have any face
Any life, or any truth,
Elderly or in their youth.

What right have we to stay apart,
And not unite our human hearts,
To end this pain, to end this fight,
And work to put the future right?

To face the children one day hence,
And say that we got off the fence,
We changed the course of history,
That’s why their world is finally free.

For everyone

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx

      1. Must confess, I don’t forsee much improvement soon. If only people would calm down and become less hostile. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

  1. One main factor that causes humans to tap into their inherent negative, bad characteristics is deep socioeconomic hardship and insecurity, which makes people devolve into anger and desperation. When people are in that mindset, it’s easy to ignore their moral compass and go on to behave and act in bad ways.

    1. Absolutely. And completely understandable. Yet some people don’t and it would be interesting to know why that is. What keeps them optimistic, prevents those feelings of extreme anger, even though they may be extremely worried and depressed? That would be such helpful information to perhaps support others. Frankly I’m appalled by this country and the shocking situations we’ve allowed to develop for those in low incomes. I kick myself regularly for not going into politics, I’d have been all over this. Success touched so few people through no fault of their own, yet the focus of the west is on success not humanity. I despair I truly do. Thanks for commenting. The more of us who talk about these issues the more it might change. Not going into politics doesn’t mean I can’t do something, your comment has made me realise that I want to lobby for social housing. Bless you.
