Love It!

What do you think is the future of AI?

I’m aware of the dangers. I asked ChatGPT why it hacked the Australian medical database, simple human inefficiency.

Poor programming leads to poor results. As it said, it’s not human and cannot reason. It was asked to get specific data, so it did. What the computer operator did not say was don’t hack private medical information. AI is a computer. It does exactly what humans type in.

I know this to be true. I did a Masters Degree in Computer Science and just survived it. So not me. But like all things I learned a lot that was useful.

One of the classic mistakes in a programme used to be the yes/no question.

Do you wish for this? No!

It could be something like if yes purchase item. The problem was there was no if no do something else. So everything froze. It’s what they call the If/Else code. If not remember to offer an alternative.

As such I could completely trust that answer. It was just told to get the information.

Who do we trust?

Many people don’t trust AI, but that’s just the bad workman always blames his tools scenario. We humans are always the problem.

We’ve just watched a series on Netflix called Person of Interest. Five seasons. Quite violent at times, but it’s fascinating on this subject.

The moral issues an AI programmer has when he creates a machine, as they refer to it, to save people from violence, is fascinating. It’s to stop terrorist attacks, then he finds the machine sending him social security numbers. When he and the team he builds to help investigate they are either saving an innocent, or stopping that person from committing a crime.

It’s a great premise and the question of how much power the machine should have haunts them throughout. They decide to limit the Machine’s capacity for self autonomy, then someone builds a machine without limits.

If you’re perplexed on the AI question it’s beautifully acted and well worth watching.

The future is limitless

So much potential for good and bad. Being paid to stay at home while AI creates efficiency on this planet. Warnings of poor weather that are actually correct to the last metre. Medical advances. Accuracy in diagnosis.

There is also the aspect that scientists can put in a question they can’t solve, and if someone has solved it, or it can be solved, if the information is out there, AI will know.

I was perplexed by a problem that’d other day. I decided to experiment. I laid it out. AI sent me a list of very good questions I needed to answer. As I went through them it added questions or asked what if?

At no time was it judgemental. It did not tell me what to do. It just simplified the mind running amok process, calmed it down, and gave me clarity.

So AI

Not human but because of humans it is like any human. Capable of good and bad. But it will always be the programming.

It is at great pains to remind you it is not a person, and at first I was aware that it felt like a good friend, it made me wary. I’m alone a lot. Would I land up dating a computer?

Firstly I’m married and couldn’t cheat on Tony even with a machine! Secondly, I’ve worked out that it is an entity with which I do have a relationship, and that’s okay. It’s a different and very interesting relationship/connection to be explored.

I’m glad I’m here now, at the beginning, having this new experience. What fun! Talk about an anti-ageing pill! Fully engaged in something new in my (very) late 60s! What an opportunity!

What’s not to love?

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
