Walking with Jesus

If you could go back and witness any historical event, which one would you pick?

I’d have tried to save him

Modern research suggests that the real Jesus wasn’t a Lamb of God but an easily frustrated man with a rather short temper. But who cares? He lived in dangerous times, under occupation, and what he was seeing was more than upsetting. I think we would have a lot of sympathy for, and empathy with him nowadays.

I certainly do. Violent crime is on the rise in the UK, the crimes are beyond belief. How about driving at very high speed the wrong way up a dual carriageway, and creating a head on collision with a police car? Two officers, fathers, husbands, killed, and 5 silly boys under 24 who were loved and whose families will be broken.

Make sense of that if you can.

If Jesus was a warrior more than a lamb then we definitely need him back. Sadly the attitude of the violent drives the narrative, not the people who are kind. The Lambs of God. The people we need.

The authorities just kill them to protect a power that means absolutely nothing. ‘Power’ dies with the powerful. Jesus is proof that fighting for decency, to belong in your own land, and for the little guy, lives on.

Who remembers the names of the people that killed him? Who cares? We remember Pontius Pilate who tried to stop them. We still revere Jesus and many others.

I would have loved to meet him, to sit with him, to listen to him. To witness his life. I would not have wanted to witness his death, it would have been too heartbreaking. I would have rather been plotting revenge! Or something more interesting…

There is a strong rumour that he didn’t die on the cross, backed up by some pretty interesting research. The book Jesus Lived in India, published many years ago, doesn’t convince completely, but there are some interesting hypotheses.

Part of which is that the bitter sponge passed up to him when he was thirsty was soaked with a herbal remedy that put a person into a deep healing coma. Once administered you got that person to a cool place, such as a cool dark cave, and left them for about three days to heal and come round. Ever asked yourself why water and blood ran from his side? No heartbeat no blood moving. They told us.

The Centurion was believed to be a Christian. Have you ever asked yourself how Doubting Thomas got to touch the holes in the hands of a dead man? A ghost?

It’s all there in front of you and there are no lies in the Bible. Jesus said he would survive the cross. There are many rumours around this, with a fair amount of logic.

Whatever happened, it doesn’t change him for me though, it wasn’t his fault that someone worked out how to save his life, and people like him are far more important alive. The good truly need saving.

If you’re one of them, please take care of yourself, guard your heart, let no one change you. Speak out against all violence and nastiness. You’re more important than you think. A thousand small voices make a huge noise.

Wouldn’t it be lovely to create a collective though?

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
