What’s a quote that perfectly describes your outlook on life?

I recall doing a several quote post a few days ago. So let’s talk about ‘good sayings’, ones that inspire us.
They’re only useful if they inspire change
Cook a piece of beef, put it on the worktop to be carved. Admire the super carving knife you purchased, best on the market, cost a fortune. Then wait for the knife to do the work. Nothing major changes.
You bought the knife but you didn’t pick it up.
Quotes are like that. If you have a quote about good thoughts, change your thoughts. If you have one inspiring exercise, get off your butt. If you love the one about not suffering fools gladly, stop suffering fools.
Collecting good words is great but living by them is what’s intended
Otherwise they’re just a string of letters sitting there laughing at you.
Self help from others
No matter what I or any other Coach or inspirer says. you need to be the change you want to feel.
If you’re not no one else can be
If you read good books then capture what resonates with you in a notebook and go through those notes if you’re struggling. You can categorise them by book so you’ll know where to find them.
Change is action
You need to change how you think, which will change how you feel, and that will change how you act. Only that order works. Mind first. Own it.
Your life IS what YOUR thoughts make it
Emperor Marcus Aurelius 1st C CE
I added the emphasis for emphasis to draw out one important point…
Many of your thoughts were not driven by your choices
They are the thoughts trained into you by, too often, the hang ups of other people. I came from a deeply hurt family and my brother and I both agreed it had an effect.
I haven’t blamed them since I understood my power to change that
They were only doing their best. There is no training to be a parent, and if there was the next child would be different.
There is no time like the present
There is only now, or more of the same.
Simple tips
- Nothing is more important than feeling good. Seek to feel good as much as you can by thoughts, words, and actions. They’re all derivatives of the word power.
- Dismiss bad, sad, or angry thoughts. Turn them around to positives.
- The past only lives in your head and you do have the choice about how you think. Drag your mind back into the present every time it goes to the painful past. It could be worth making a list of good moments from the past if you had any. You might find they outweigh the bad. That will change the perspective of those for whom the past was a mixture of bad and good. Like mine.
- Happiness should be the aim of every single human being. I listed the many good reasons for that the other day, including no war. Choose it, choose thoughts that support it, let that lead to actions that bring it in. Except for sad life events, it can be done.
Love yourself enough to do this

He says that often.
You matter – you are valuable – you are loved
That last one? Loved? You don’t feel it? Go and find it but don’t stay near anyone or anything that stops you feeling good.
Simple isn’t it?

All great points. The repetition of the prompts doesn’t bother me – it brings in new people, or old people with a fresh take.

Agreed. I quietly enjoy the challenge, particularly when it comes to a title. Thank you for your kind comment. I’ll check out your blog shortly.
