Who is the fictional character you relate to the most?

I like his quiet strength. He was a leader who didn’t have to throw his weight about, he led from a position of knowledge and quiet respect.
If you have to bully you’re not a leader.
His team looked to him to steady them, when he was there, it was okay. He also had the courage of a true leader, he backed himself up with incredible people.
If you have to make sure the people around you can’t threaten your position, you’re not a leader.
A good leader needs to have equally strong people around them, unafraid to challenge them, but who also know an effective leader when they see one.
Mutual respect is everything in a team.
I did a reading once at a business park. One man came and just stood a way off, wouldn’t go. I told him it was okay if he just came back at his allotted time. He said no, he was so desperate for help and I was his last hope. He was not risking missing out.
It turned out he was a director and he was having terrible trouble with two men on his team. Always at each other’s throats. I told him that they would both be better at each others’ job and he should swap them. He sat back and stared at me. He said that was absolutely right and he would go back and do just that.
His review said “It’s remarkable what this lay can do with 15 minutes and 8 cards”. I was so pleased, more to have seen the weight lift from that poor soul.
A good leader trusts their team, because they trust themselves to find the right team, a team they can stand back from, let them do their work, and do what every true leader should do:
Stay quiet and lead from behind. Making decisions when necessary, that is their role, then sitting there quietly watching their team thrive. Leadership is a support role, overwhelm the team and you’ll never get good results.
That’s who I am, and I’ve walked away from several teams who were too scared to let me, or indeed anyone, lead. It has to be a partnership.
So this fictional character very much reminds me of me, what I’m good at and also what I would like to be. But I have to remember that the Klingons and Romulans weren’t real, and nor were the weapons. Whereas as real life can be unsettlingly real, everyone is less than stoic sometimes.
Never ask too much of yourself, or identify too closely with a character that isn’t real, remember that the person playing them is. 🤣
