To Be Kind and Respectful

What’s a promise you made to yourself that you’ve actually kept?

Kids can get away with this. – adults can’t

My mother taught me as a child that ‘I’m sorry’ and ‘thank you are actions not words. That’s where this commitment started.

She said that if you are sorry you never do or say that thing again. You show by your words and actions that you mean what you say.

I recently missed an appointment at the hospital. I didn’t realise it was at another hospital in the group. It was rearranged for me, and I sent my apologies. When I went for the appointment I took a small gift with me. I did sorry. I put time and effort into it. The smile I received said it all, the person felt valued.

These things matter.

Thanking someone is often enough as long as you’re sincere, but if they really go out their way to help you then following up with a gift, or a treat, demonstrates your gratitude. Leaves the person with a memory that is warm and uplifting.

It’s not too much to ask to be appreciated.

My Frister has had a very difficult year. I won’t say the year from hell as she’s not one to bewail her fate even under the provocation this year has delivered.

A couple of weeks ago we took her out to see an exhibition. She wanted to pay for her ticket and we said no. Any other month the of the year you can pay, but not July. July is a time you need spoiling.

We don’t do this because we’re jolly nice people, we do it because she is. Because we’re lucky to have her, and we want her to see it and know it, because she deserves it. Because we and she believe in kindness and decency.

Kind and decent people deserve the best treatment.

Important point

Kindness and decency are often laughed at as weak and woke. Whereas ‘strong’ people demonstrate ‘strength’ by spiteful words and aggressive behaviour. Trolls being the weakest example because they hide behind a keyboard knowing they can say what they like

True strength is quiet, and it’s not something you even see demonstrated. A truly strong person commands your respect the instant they walk into a room. Nothing is ever said, there is no need, everyone knows.

My old headmistress, father, and grandfather, demonstrated this to perfection. I had excellent trainers.

Kindness and respect are things I will not abandon because other people don’t believe in them. That’s not my business, and I’m not theirs.

I seek to change no one, only to be what the world needs.

Violence and killing are weakness

You aren’t strong if you have powerful weapons, fast fists, knives or guns. Only fearful people need them.

Strong people negotiate and agree. Weak people fight.

Nagasaki and Hiroshima were two of the greatest atrocities of all time. But not enough to stop the leaders of this world sit up and take notice. It achieved only a horror too easily ignored.

It’s worth noting that Oppenheimer didn’t know exactly what those bombs would do and was shattered afterwards. He just wanted to finally stop the war. Rumour has it that he was never the same again. Something to think about.

The moral of this story is:

If you don’t want to die in a conflict – be what the world needs. What the children need.

If you can’t put innocents first there is truly something wrong with you.

Best love

Amorah – Deb

Whose weapons are kindness and respect, that’s how I fight for peace for all humanity, one heart at a time! I hope yours is with me.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx

  1. I’m with you, Deb, and through your words, I can see and feel that you’re a strong person. We just need to negotiate, not to harm anyone.

My love and hugs! And I sent you an email. I’ll respond to comments later.💚
