Two Strains of Humanity

The divide between war and peace

I had this made up by AI, and it really resonates with me, the beautiful, peaceful, natural way you can live, versus the inexplicable need to establish your dominance in some way.

Strength or weakness?

People who embrace war, violence, or physical crimes against the person, often see it as a show of strength, but where is the strength in attacking someone weaker than you? Where is the strength to start firing missiles at innocents? I can’t see it. To me strong people can talk and reach agreement.

Of course we’re actually talking about fear here aren’t we. Fear that you’re not as strong as another person or even country. Fear that you will lose your way of life if you don’t fiercely defend your country or religion. Fear that you will be seen as weak if you are kind and gentle.

History

The other complication for humanity is history. Religions, races, colours, divided centuries ago in time, and yet today we are still fighting for those things. Humanity has a very poor track record in many areas for moving with the times.

History is about stereotypes. In many cultures women have not been allowed to move on and become equals. You may think I’m only speaking of certain races, I’m not. In the UK women are still paid far less than men.

I read recently about a couple who both decided to take a year off work when they had a baby, they were both senior business people. When the man went back to work he went into his old role on his previous wage, when the wife went back to work she was paid £35000 a year less than when she was childless. Work that one out. It’s not the only example of women as second class citizens in a so-called developed society.

Who is God?

Looking at the state of this world of ours, an almost unbelievable situation where two world wars weren’t enough to put us off war forever, and considering that most countries have a god and a religion, how can humans in the 21st Century still play God?

By what right does a world leader decide who lives and who dies, and send out their troops to carry out the appalling actions, whilst they enjoy a nice cool glass of champagne, or some non-alcoholic beverage with their evening meal?

Think about it, these men start wars, thousands of unarmed innocents die, and they are safe in their hideaways enjoying the best that life has to offer.

Why do so many humans support and follow them?

Peacemakers are not idiots

We save lives. We would not start or tolerate a war. It will never cease to amaze me how much we’re laughed at and yet those on the other side of the wall can seemingly look at the awful destruction of war, or terrorist attacks, and not feel that we might actually, possibly have a point.

I guess if we’re woke idiots, dreamers, stupid to believe peace is possible, then they are beyond the limits of human understanding. A kind of ‘what exactly are you moment. Which says it all really.

For the world’s sake

If you do belong on the happy side of the wall, be proud, be loud, and be unapologetic. Those who do no harm have nothing to apologise for. Save the children.

Best love and may you and yours be safe

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
