What was your favorite subject in school?

One necessary for a writer and the other is a research degree which helps you to ensure your writing is accurate.
Nothing like putting the Eiffel Tower on the wrong side of the road to annoy a reader. The two subjects go together to ensure the quality of writing.
History also reminds you to verify, verify, verify, because the truth changes over time as new information is released.
Facts change when thieves steal items from Paris museums; you can’t claim that someone went to see the Jewellery of Empress Eugenie and Empress Marie-Louise of France now, but you have to write them back in if you place a book any time before the beginning of last month.
Funny story
Twenty-four years ago I went for an interview for a technology job. One of the Board Directors was interested in my history degree and asked me what my favourite period was.
I answered honestly that I was the other way around, from the Stone-age to the present day I love all areas of history, except the Victorian era, I can’t stand it.
Yes I know it was a time of huge innovation, it just bores me which makes no sense but it does.
I received a call later that day to say I hadn’t got the role because the Director thought it was the most ridiculous answer he’d ever heard. Even though I didn’t mention the boring part.
At the time I was stunned, upset, and demoralised. Now I realise I should have reported him as the question was nothing to do with technology and shouldn’t have been asked at the interview.
As I said, history changes over time, and I now find it funny. I think I can honestly lay claim to having one the most ridiculous reasons ever to be turned down for a job.
Best love
Happy days
Create a good history everyday
