Dance

What is your favorite form of physical exercise?

I used to love to dance, but I haven’t danced in years. I used to listen to music all the time, I don’t now.

Apart from that martial arts, but I’m way out of practice and don’t want to go back to it.

Which leaves reading. Now you may say that reading is not a form of exercise, but in my case you would be wrong. The process goes something like this.

  • Mean to bring book downstairs with me, forget.
  • Go upstairs to fetch book, pet three cats, fill their biscuit bowls, go back downstairs, no book!
  • Decide I’ll go and get it whilst I remember. Go back upstairs and clean the sink because it’s needed it for a week, go back downstairs. NO BOOK!
  • Swear in a ladylike but fierce way. Go up to fetch book, grab the washing while you’re there, put it in washing machine. Remember book.
  • Go back upstairs, book is not there, oh no!
  • Hurtle back downstairs as you’ve still got time to stop the machine! Switch it off, open it carefully, rummage through soggy washing, no book! Stand up and see it on worktop.
  • Read for an hour, go out to washing machine which is making a terrible racket letting you know that it’s finished. See that floor looks slippery. Get a cloth to clean up, note washing liquid ball on floor, refill ball, do the washing again.

That’s how come reading a book is exercise!

Today’s thought

Are there things you used to love doing that you no longer do? I actually listened to a new album the other day and danced for a short while, it felt so good.

I think it’s quite important that we make sure that part of our lives are dedicated to things that make us happy. In the same way that air to breathe is important. Never put fun and joy last. More importantly – never let it go altogether.

Good mental health requires lightness of being, that comes through happiness, which comes from doing what you love. That and being with the right people.

Best love

P.S. I’ve started taking a natural remedy for memory, and it works, I only had to go upstairs twice to get my book the other day. 🤣😉🤣

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
