Yes

Do you remember life before the internet?

Computers took up an entire room when I was born. Fast forward 35 years and I had one on my desk. However, the internet was only in its infancy

I kind of wish it hadn’t survived birth as it’s turned out to be more of a weapon one way and the other.

From insults on social media, to creatures sharing abusive images and videos, to hackers taking down companies and costing the public a fortune, the thing is a bit of a nightmare.

It’s shown us the worst of humanity, creates a great deal of stress and affects mental health.

Yes it has its good points, but I personally don’t believe they make up for the misuse. Throw in the dark web and I rest my case.

Allow me to contradict myself here: is the Internet a bad thing? Not at all.

It’s a completely amazing thing. It isn’t the invention of the internet that’s the problem, it’s the invention of humanity.

Even a gun is harmless unless someone picks it up.

Yep, Adam and Eve have a lot to answer for, although how people who only had two sons can possibly have started all this is mystifying.

I’ll just pop onto the internet and see what Google has to say.

Excuse me while I wade through seventeen pages of unrelated garbage, a dozen adverts, and several fake news items.

What? Don’t you get completely distracted and land up learning things about things you don’t care about? Or reading trashy news items because they have catchy headlines, and looking to see if someone is still alive as you haven’t seen them in a film recently?

You really don’t know how to embrace mind numbing boredom, repetitive strain injury, dry eyes, ruin your own concentration, and forget what you set out to achieve, do you?

I’ll be back when I get hungry and realise I haven’t eaten all day, but I do know how many volcanoes there are in the world, the average temperature of Arctic ice, and who hid Waldo!

Best love for a fun day

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
