Memories

Do you have any collections?

Which I curate carefully.

When it comes to possessions I used to collect bone china thimbles, I have over 100 gathering dust that I can’t bear to part with. Sigh.

I also collect crystals. I never thought I would have a crystal skull (imitation dead head) in my house, now I have at least 10, but they all mean something to me.

The ‘rule’ with a crystal skull is that if you pick one up and immediately it gives you a name then it’s yours, if it doesn’t it’s not an ornament it belongs to someone else, so put it down again. Weird but true.

Those memories

I have many, but two crystal skulls provided two of my favourites. The first one is an Amethyst skull that a friend sold me. I received the name Archimedes immediately (not one the naturally leaps to mind), so I said I’d have him.

I was disappointed though as for some reason I’d been dreaming of a golden pyramid floating in front of me and it felt like something to do with the skull. My friend turned it around and on the back of his head is a golden citrine pyramid. As if it had been carefully cut out and placed there, except neither the seller nor I could feel a join. It seems natural.

The next one was a blue sodalite skull, he gave me the name Arcturian. At the time that meant nothing to me.

That same night I was hosting a group session and I was told we had to draw a symbol, our personal symbol. I’d never heard of such a thing, so we drew something. One lady in the group said “You realise this is called Light Language don’t you?”

I genuinely hadn’t heard of it so I asked her to explain. She told me that it was channelled by the Arcturians. I nearly fell over. I fetched the skull to show the group and she said, their colour is blue.

I now know that there are many star beings in this universe, you will be familiar with Atlantis, there’s an Atlantean realm. But at that time I was genuinely clueless.

As you may imagine, both these memories convinced me that I had a very limited view of the power of the universe, but as I didn’t know these things both events acted as proof of a more varied reality than the ones humans perceive.

Family, friends, cats, the past…

I also collect as many good memories from my past as I can. It’s very easy to remember only the bad things as they have greater power to affect your life. But I’ve found that when you forgive the past there are many good memories that were lost amongst the hurt.

As you pull those back and give them a hug, you start to feel that your life hasn’t been a disaster, and there are many good aspects that you’re glad you remember.

Obviously this won’t apply to all, but I hope it does apply to you. Some things are very difficult to forgive and those who hurt you may be impossible to think of with any affection. That is no more than they deserve. Just make sure they’re no longer poisoning you.

Living well is the best revenge

George Herbert

He also said:

It is important to know when to stop arguing with people, and let them be wrong.

George Herbert

I found the second quote when I was double-checking the provenance of the first one, and it made me smile.

Declutter your mind

And your emotions will follow.

Do a memory sweep, find the good memories, focus on them and ditch the rest. It’s honestly not worth thinking back to anything that upsets you or ruins your digestion.

You wouldn’t make a collection of rotten apples or rancid meat, so why keep the bad memories when you can allow them to fade into the past and file them in a box marked “Garbage!”

Okay, that may sound a little too simplistic, but it has to be worth a go right?

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx

  1. Great read. We all collect memories. Mine are held in pictures and papers. We don’t often photograph hurt and sadness, so I feel only warmth and love from the photos I have. Thankfully.
