Who are your favorite people to be around?

They make that easy

I can easily choose one friend, Katrina, without a second’s hesitation, but we have the advantage of living close to each other and being able to be there in a real way. Which does nothing to diminish her positive impact on my life. I love her beyond bits.

Then there’s Luke, I was the second oldest in the group we all joined, he was the youngest, I’m in fact old enough to be his mum. Yet we bonded 19 years ago, and we support each other. Again we live far apart, and it doesn’t matter. He’s never far from my mind. Or heart.

Then there’s the really incredible one, in every sense, Kim, we live miles apart but we understand each other in a way no one else does. She’s put up with me for 52 years. The only thing that ever came close to wobbling us was her sister, and we don’t like her.

It’s not a case of other friends being less important, loved, or good at being friends, it’s something we can’t explain. We’re so connected it doesn’t matter if we make contact or not.

Sounds so weird, it is weird, neither of us will ever understand it, apparently we don’t finish sentences when we speak, if outsiders are listening it’s rubbish. We don’t understand that either, nor did we realise.

So how could you measure that weirdness and loyalty against Katrina’s closeness and loyalty. It was love at first sight there. Literally.

She was in danger of being made homeless with her little cat, and Tony who is very protective of his personal space, immediately said to her that she was coming to us with Gremmy, and that wasn’t open to discussion. I nearly fell over. He’d spent less than two hours with her. He wasn’t even worried about our cats being upset.

Then there are my groups, some new friends, many of whom have trusted me for years and I them. All people that I love, value, and respect.

I could only write this, this way, because being cut off from your family and all your friends but two, when they supported a toxic ex, who did exactly what you’re counsellor said (and Kim said) – dumped them as soon as he’d destroyed everything. Or so he thought. You really know the value of decent people when you met them and treat them in the way they deserve. With kindness and everything that encompasses.

I never take one of them for granted. I’m blessed and I know it.

These people keep me steady, give me confidence to try things, make me laugh. Remind me that I can love.

The cats? They’re a given. They’re wonderful. And just as important as any human.

As to Tony, yeah he’s okay, and yes he will understand this statement and it will give him an excuse to practice his “I’m only the driver” drama, “just lil old me.”

I can’t take that away from him by being excessively nice. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

He is a group member by the way. 😉

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
