Soul-centred Living: Getting in Touch

In the introduction I laid out what it meant to me to be in touch with my soul, how empowering it is. Particularly as it frees you from a lot of human ideas and social constructions. I would say emphatically though:

It does not free us to do exactly as we like with no boundaries

The soul is about love and everything that means in the way of kindness, respect, and inclusion. It is a path you follow if you want to be a force for good in your own life, and that of others, animals, and the planet.

Soul-centred people cannot do harm to anyone, any animal, or anything.

Living this way frees you from the ideas of others, particularly your upbringing if, like me, you realise that it didn’t suit you in some way. It can free you from a lot of hurt, if not all the hurt. But this is getting a little ahead of ourselves, and it does take work and commitment, just not hard work, more dedicated work.

Getting in touch

If you want to feel your soul energy go to your heart. For people who believe as I do the heart is the seat of soul, it’s where it connects into your body and animates your first heartbeat. It animates you.

So if you want to start getting in real touch with yourself, because the soul is your self, sit quietly with your hands on your heart and relax. It’s that simple. You can think if you want to think, close your eyes or leave them open, just sit there. At some point you should feel quite a heat emanating from the area. Not a heat that says your hands are getting warm because they’re pressed against your chest, it’s quite different when you get the connection. It’s energy.

Everything emanates from this very simple exercise. If you do that for a few minutes on waking, and just before you go to sleep, it will be enough at first.

The next step will be building an awareness that the real you is quite different from the human who has been trained by others, but it has by no means been taken over by that programming, nor has your essential self been altered.

So don’t worry if you’ve struggled with abuse or other horrible circumstances in your life. You can connect to your true self and rebuild from there, and that is the real triumph. You won’t forget of course, but you will find ways not to be so affected, to move forward, and be yourself.

This is extremely subtle work, you often think that no changes have taken place, then one day you realise you’re reacting differently, in more positive ways, letting niggles go, and so on.

Gentle, slow change, is far more sustainable, and this will be done on your own terms.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
