My Mother?

Interview someone — a friend, another blogger, your mother, the mailman — and write a post based on their responses.

Now that would be interesting. I’m a medium so interviewing my mother is still possible.

Although this is a brilliant question, how many of you I wonder have the opportunity to do this today? I don’t for a number of reasons. But I can think of someone I’d like to interview as I’d very much value their opinion at the moment.

What if…?

‘So, Lord, thank you for making yourself available at such sort notice.”’

‘I am always available my child.’

‘That’s not just fake news then?’

‘Absolutely not. I’m not a politician and I didn’t create social media.”’

‘What do I call you? Jaweh? Allah? God? Krishna?’

‘You’re English, stick with your own language. I speak them all.’

‘You speak all the languages?”

“I invented them.’

‘Why not just one?’

‘I started with one but no one wanted to speak it.”’

‘Which one?”’

‘Love. With love there is no need for words. It’s based on doing good, smiles, laughter, hugs. You only need to see how often humans interpret the same words in different ways to know that all silence and loving action would have been a better way to communicate.’

‘Mark Twain? “Kindness is the language the deaf can hear and the blind can see”?’

‘Precisely. I thanked him for that.’

‘How do you feel about having so many names, and allegedly many diverse ways of thinking?’

‘Not good, Deb, not good. I never intended to be a cosmic multi-personality disorder.’

‘What is your approach to…being?’

‘Love.’

‘That’s it?!’

‘Yes. I am love. I think love. I speak love, and I do love.’

‘No wonder we don’t understand.’

‘You do. You just don’t want to.’

‘Humans fear difference.’

‘That’s not fear of difference that’s outright lunacy looking for a purpose!’

‘Are you disappointed in us!’

‘No my child.’

‘Ah, because you’re love so you understand?’

‘Because I’m horrified! I left disappointed behind not long after humanity appeared.’

‘You?’

‘Yes me. No point creating feeling beings if you don’t feel. I created you in my name remember, as an extension of me. I’m somewhat miffed.’

‘Do you ever want to smite and smote,’

‘Absolutely. But I take responsibility for creating free will. Wiping you out with one swipe of my hand would be a bit two faced all round. So I keep trying to help.’

‘How? Through the churches?’

‘Erm, not always. Mainly through the hearts of good people wherever I can find them. Sometimes through the various clergy, because they do attract some amazing people. But more often through everyday people in everyday life. There are far more good people out there than you can begin to know. Certainly more good than bad.’

‘That’s heartwarming.’

‘They keep me sane.’

‘I don’t think I’d want to know what you losing it would look like.’

‘Did your mother ever give you a look that froze you on the spot?’

‘Yes! It still scares me and she’s been with you since 2015.’

‘Imagine that and add pillars of salt.’

Taking a deep breath and trying to rid myself of images of the drought caused by too many pillars of salt melting into our waterways…

‘I wanted to ask you for some advice in what has turned out to be extremely difficult times. We really need help.’

‘You do. Let me think…’

  • You’re too easily led by what others declare to be truth.
  • You try to own and define a deity that no one has seen. I am all the gods you speak of, and nothing like any of them. No long white beard, no white throne, that was Zeus. I belong to no religion, no people, no race, colour, or creed. No gender. I am neither male nor female nor anything you understand. I Am. I favour no expression of humanity more than any other. I love you all. You’re all my children. And like every parent sometimes I have to love you despite what you are, but you’re still mine. I do have a soft spot for the animal kingdom though. They mean no harm.
  • That’s an important point. You are my children, I am not your God. You do not own me. You do not know what I think.
  • You want to be in control and yet you are still learning, and still failing. If it helps, no one knows everything there is to know because the universe is still evolving, and it’s still evolving in places you do not know exist. Therefore it’s impossible to know everything.
  • Your world is evolving. Things thought to be right 50 years ago are known to be wrong now. And that aspect is speeding up.
  • You don’t need to be right. Only kind.
  • Lose fear and you will automatically become safe.
  • Understand that I created male and female to perpetuate the race. One without the other is pointless, therefore neither is more important. Throughout history there have been people who don’t conform to their body shape. This is not new. I have left them be because I love diversity. Read between the lines. I love you all.
  • I didn’t create skin colour, it evolved naturally to deal with your climate. If I had it would have been diverse because of that diversity thing. I do not like to be bored.
  • Your politics are a game that needs to stop. Your vote creates the original chaos and then you blame politicians. If they don’t dance to your tune you vote them out. Look to yourselves to create your life. No one else.
  • Treat my animals better. You’ve destroyed their habitats, wiped out entire species, domesticated them, hunted them, killed them. I love them too and I’m a very protective parent.
  • Put your telephones down, turn your computers off, and talk to each other.
  • Travel abroad. See how others live. Find out who they are for yourselves. Revel in the differences.
  • Don’t seek to be right, you don’t know enough.
  • Learn everything you can.
  • Share your wealth and there will be less despair.
  • Love and there will be no war.
  • Don’t define yourselves, expand yourselves.
  • Be kind.

‘Is that it?’

‘Oh Me no! But it’s a start.’

‘Thank you.’

‘Thank you for asking. Go in peace!’

‘You too.’

‘Thank you, but already achieved. I’m one parent you can safely emulate as long as you don’t trigger the look!’

‘I will do my utmost. Too much salt is bad for you!’

Sound of cosmic laughter. It was a nice sound.

It was a bit cheeky

Being the voice of God. But thinking about what a loving God might say was a very interesting exercise.

Have a peaceful day

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
