Road Runner

What’s your favorite cartoon?

I love all things comic, but for me it will always be The Road Runner and Wile e Coyote. Good innocent fun in the days you didn’t need to show the warning:

“May contain distressing images of falling from a great height and getting a bit bent. You should not attempt any of the stunts seen in this programme. Please contact appropriate services if you feel silly enough to try this.”

And

“Certificate 18 or over but still accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult just in case you have a couple of drinks on the way home and feel reckless.”

We watched those cartoons happily without ever thinking of them as instructions to try something.

Such innocent times. Such fun times.

Violence

There used to be a LOT of violence in cartoons, but society didn’t deteriorate as a result. Yet as soon as video games came in there were warnings that it would lead to desensitising the young to violence. How stupid we thought that was. Look at us now.

So now we live in nanny states, due to the levels of depression bought about by the shocking state of our societies, and the fact that people have lost so much connection that killing, raping, maiming each other is only too easy. Much of the former peaceful Europe is struggling terribly with an unprecedented amount of violence on our streets.

Nowadays the Road Runner may be deemed inadvisable and only to be viewed after the watershed.

Oh for the days we knew not to jump off cliffs. Or were we too happy in our much simpler world to even consider it? Or hurting anyone else.

Beep beep!

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
