The Shining

What’s a book or movie that genuinely scared you?

With Jack Nicholson, but who wants to talk about fear? Certainly not me.

I’ve learned in life that nothing is more important than feeling good, choosing that as often as you can. As such, I prefer comedy or a thriller over horror.

I only have to put the news on to hear horror. We don’t need anymore than the appalling behaviour in our societies to strike fear into the heart of the average person.

It’s amazing really that anyone reacts to a horror film with fear, rather than ‘you call that scary in a world where war exists?’

They say life imitates art, so I guess it’s thanks for all the horror films guys, you gave morons all the wrong ideas!

On the other hand, every individual is responsible for their own actions, so the TV and film industries could equally respond ‘they weren’t instructions they were entertainment, created as a dire warning!’

It always fascinates me that humans need it explained to them that kind and decent, non-violent people are right. People who speak to others courteously are right. Those who listened to the instruction ‘Thou shalt not kill’ are definitely right.

How can the cynical and violent ever think we’re wrong!

Sci Fi has been warning us of this tide and identifying the need to come together for decades. It’s about time we listened to that instead!

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
