I Don’t Own a City

Which is the best restaurant in your city?

I decided to be literal here! 🤣

I also don’t live in a city or visit a city often. As such I have no clue.

Besides in this day and age in the UK, even with a five-figure wage that used to indicate significant financial comfort, we are no longer as comfortable. How anyone on lower incomes are surviving is a complete mystery. We do what we can.

As such a best restaurant is something we would not consider.

I don’t know what the rest of the world is like, but in the UK we are taxed, then taxed on our taxes.

There is tax on petrol, then VAT on the lot, taxing the tax. We’re taxed when we buy a house and taxed when we sell it. They tax us when we die.

We’re punished constantly for working hard. Pensioners are taxed. Fiscal drag is when a government direct increase the personal pre-tax appearance, then puts your pension up a bit, knowing that they can then take 20% tax from the excess bit.

Every time they increase our pensions, which don’t represent a living income if that’s all you have, they take a bit more back.

So, one of our favourite places to go is a restaurant called ‘Bill’s’, but the bill you receive at the end makes it an irregular occurrence. ‘Bill’s’ at least provides a wide variety of interesting food and caters for different diets.

Part of the reason I love them so much. I can eat! Always a bonus. Makes a change from ice cream being my only choice…

“Sorry our ice cream has wheat in it!” 😱

Sound of stomach rumbling!

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
