Voice of the Heart: Listen to the beat!

I have just read a book by one of my favourite authors, Lisa Jewell. It’s called “Breaking the Dark” and is a Marvel Superhero book.

Don’t take that to mean it’s all fights, it’s actually an intriguing mystery that hooked me on page one and didn’t let me go. But what really struck me was one amazing paragraph at the end.

Perfect is what you are when you are listening only to the beat of your own heart, the sound of your own feet on the road ahead of you, the one pure voice that exists inside you telling you that you are fine, just the way you are.

Lisa Jewell

If this doesn’t nail the voice of the heart beautifully what does? But it strikes me that it also says listen and then follow where your inner guidance takes you. Don’t follow the noise of this world, be enough in yourself.

Heart Talk

My heart speaks to me
I listen
but I forget to act

I forget that the heart needs
the same respect
as we would give to any wise person

It needs me to pay attention
hear the beat and follow it
Matching the rhythm of my steps
to my life force
not to the noise around me

The sound of other steps
reflecting the beat
of a hundred different hearts
and a thousand different opinions

All nothing to do with me

Only in the silence
of that one heartbeat
will I find my rhythm
my voice
my truth
and my direction

And I will be able to hear those words
you are perfect as you are
you are enough

Heart truth

The noise of this world, and the overwhelming self-belief of others, is what drowns us. Makes us question ourselves. Puts us into internal conflict.

When you’re unsure, confused, doubting yourself, try going out for a walk, finding your natural rhythm, and walk to the beat of your own heart.

The answers lie in the silence.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
