Certainly is for the England Football Team!

Is a little chaos actually good for us?

I chose them because they’re a great example of overcoming obstacles.

Chaos is rarely good to my mind. Many married couples will tell you that their big day was hell on earth in the lead up, all the worry – will the cake collapse? That sort of thing. Mothers! Outfits! Dress! Timings, suppliers, and on and on and on.

I learned that a honeymoon is recovery time. I’ve had two. So even good chaos can still be wearing.

We have four riotous grandchildren. So free to play and be who they are, within reason obviously. But I know mum and dad still sink gratefully into the sofa and the silence at night.

No I’m no fan of chaos, but the kids are an exception, they’re beautiful chaos.

Our boys!

If you don’t follow football, they beat Mexico in the early hours of this morning UK time, at the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City. The third team to beat Mexico there since the 60s! They’re now in the quarter finals.

There were so many worries. Altitude our boys weren’t used to. Five thousand feet above sea level. Would they tire? Would they be able to breathe? Their quiet reply? It’s just another obstacle to be overcome.

Then there was the weather. Massive electrical storms possible. Match brought forward five hours, then put back to the old time. Just another obstacle to be overcome.

Only 3000 England fans able to be there, so overwhelming partisanship. No problem.

Then some Mexico fans gathered outside their hotel at night firing off mortars and rockets and generally making a huge noise trying to keep them awake every night. I thought at the time they must have been really scared of England, turns out they were right to be.

Fortunately the Mexican police were very helpful and spent a fortune in policing on the ground to move them further away and help. I know that we in England greatly appreciated that. The England Coach, Thomas Tuchel also said the majority of the Mexican fans were very kind and courteous.

Then apparently the ball travels much faster in thin air, would the goal keeper be able to time his saves? His response? Just a problem to be overcome. After the match? It was much easier apparently and he loved it.

Is chaos good for you?

If you have seen an England men’s match you will know they have a habit of being tentative at first and taking time to bed in. Sometimes landing up in a bit of trouble, with us fans at home reminding ourselves that hurling more than frustrated insults at the TV could be very expensive. Thomas Tuchel calls it frightened playing.

But they settle and in the second half they’re a different team. Energised, determined, and often successful.

So, is chaos good for you?

It’s not only the England team who create their own chaos, we all do at times.

We can learn a lot from this team though, dig in, stay calm, just a challenge, we’ve got this. I find that attitude very inspiring and they’re helping me a great deal at the moment.

To me chaos doesn’t have to be bad, even so I don’t particularly welcome it. But like the England team I do my utmost to:

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
