Self Confidence and Respect

What’s your top tip to be successful in life?

If I’d only been her – which I am now!

I didn’t have either of those and talent wasn’t enough without them.

Every time someone was spiteful to me, as people tend to be if you put your head above the parapet, I backed off.

I was trying what I was trying for the love of it, just to write! For the fun of it. To put a team together and see what we could achieve between us.

Twice I tried and both times it was extremely hurtful. On the second attempt my co-writer thought he knew how to produce better than me. Eventually I walked away as the cast were all friends of his.

My main problem was, and still is, that I’m a team player. I love putting a group together and seeing what we’ve got. We’re not exactly in the majority.

Few people like their authority, or sense of being the best, threatened. Some people can deal with that kind of behaviour, and I admire them so much. I wasn’t one of those people at the time. I had enough problems without what should have been great fun being turned into a stress-fest.

Let’s get upbeat

Having sketched in the background, I would say to anyone who wants to be successful, that the most important thing is to trust yourself.

You will make mistakes, have hiccups, wish the ground would open up and swallow you at times, feel like taking to drink (don’t!); of course you will. But through it all you must maintain your belief in your aims, your belief that you can achieve them, and your belief in yourself.

There will be learning curves, but the mistakes and the curves will be the making of you if you let them. A side tip, if you’ve made a mistake come up with the solution before you confess. It’s so much stronger.

Those less able or talented will jump on any weakness and pulverise you with it. To say “I got this wrong but this is how I’m putting it right”, is to come from a position of power and command (of the self). That’s what you need to demonstrate.

Ultimately there is one vital thing you must never forget:

If you think you can do something, you can!

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
