Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.

I didn’t take it though, I paid for it.

Seriously, I’m not a risk taker, I’m a bit like the board game, I need to know where everything is, have all my ducks in a row, and plan my strategy. Then I go and have my haircut.
Told you – boring.
I have achieved a few things in my life, such as having a play and musical staged, but those things felt right and didn’t feel like a risk at all.
The one risk I didn’t know I was taking was in publishing my self-help book. I went to (allegedly) the self-publishing arm of Hay House, which I heard called that on a Hay House Seminar on self-publishing.
I paid for the top package which included promotion. That turned out to be a short video a very dull page on their website, and an email shot. Two years later I received my one and only reply, from a Hollywood film company apologising that they didn’t feel that my book would make a good film. No surprise there but I thanked them for their courtesy.
I also had the shock of this company calling me to offer ‘even better promotion’ for $25,000. Money I didn’t have. The book went nowhere.
If you’re going to write a book just upload it to the big bookselling sites, and make sure you have loads of interested connections. Don’t rely on family and friends. It’s a huge pressure on them to be thrilled by your hardcore porn fairy story!
Kidding!

I didn’t have the social media following or the connections to make it work. Plus I could put 63,000 words down on paper, but ask me to promote anything and my tongue ties in more knots than a rope ladder!
Still love it though.

I think he got that from my book.🤣😻🤣
