Nothing like our town

I live in a mainly bright town with many boringly similar but nice houses. There is a great deal of work locally. It’s mainly dual carriageways which until recently were in good order.

We have an indoor shopping centre which is not full of empty shops, and an old fashioned high street which whilst not great is mainly full of shops. The parks are lovely, there a many footpaths reducing the need to drive. All the big supermarkets, local shops and post offices everywhere, and more car parks than we know what to do with.

If you use a mobility scooter in Redditch you can get anywhere on the footpaths including to a very nice lake.

We have a cinema, bowling alley, restaurants, lovely pubs, and a theatre. You could not wish for more.

Yet it voted itself the unhappiest town in England!

This town really stands for having no clue how lucky you are! forty minutes in a car or on a train, from our thriving local station, and you’re in Birmingham seeing all the big shows, all the big names, or at the NEC with the variety of fun that offers.

In fairness little of that helps people with low incomes, yet they could live somewhere much worse.

The only part of the town I can’t settle with is that there is no sense of connection. I know some lovely people, especially at my supermarket, but there is nothing else. Front doors close with a bang and stay closed. It’s sad.

Attitude is everything

Luck is a mindset. Happiness is not based on money. Life is about who you are. You are the creator. Look on the bright side. Choose happiness. It changes everything.

If you let it.

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
