If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

That the rich, large corporations, energy suppliers, etc., stop crucifying the general public.
If I had my way I would turn the UK government into a business. I would nationalise everything critical to wellbeing such as water, power, transport, food, medicines. Employ people, obviously, and plough the profits back into the businesses and country.
Unlike the past I would see that those companies were run by business professionals, and there would be no shareholders. Governments need to make money in ways other than raising taxes.
This would solve two problems: constant tax rises (including stealth tax) and getting the consumer out the hands of the rich and powerful. I don’t mind them having the money, it’s the power over those less well off that I hate.
I know this is complex, but there would be a way to make it work.
People can’t be unable to afford food when there are billions in profits. We all know that if the price of coffee goes up, for example, it never ever goes down again when the crop has recovered. That’s every single kind of wrong.
It has to stop, all of it.
Epstein and the disgraced Royal, plus an American President profiting from his position to the tune of billions when his country has terrible poverty issues – as we do – prove that we need more equality in societies and the powerful held to account.
The King himself is the opposite. He’s built towns that create a great lifestyle, and said that if he could tell which was affordable housing when he visited (inside or out) he would have the houses raised to the ground and start again.
He is very wealthy, but my goodness if he isn’t an example of how wealth and position can and should be used, no one is.
Watch his film ‘Finding Harmony’ if you can, and see how lives have been changed the world over, including working with indigenous peoples in partnership, bringing back techniques that support the planet as well as people.
What he’s spearheaded is extraordinary, with the help of incredible people all over the world.
I’d model my attitude if I had the power on him, not politics, and my laws on the good of the many, not the few.
Best love

So many valid points! It would take a while for it to filter through, but it could work. There is a clear divide in the UK. The have’s and the have not’s- the divide is getting bigger!

Agree Pat. Someone has to stay though and I don’t see anyone with a real conscience stepping up yet. Plus of politicians go against the wealthy, there goes their funding.

And that is the crux of the matter!

These are great thoughts Deb. The law of gravity never works when it comes to money, what goes up remains there. The wealth of one person can feed an entire nation, how ridiculous is that.

I can’t get my head around it. The idea that we’re close to having the first trillionaire is nauseating.

The greed is atrocious. Atleast if they contribute somewhere that’s a little saving grace but they flaunt it and that’s disgusting.
