Share what you know about the year you were born.

We’ve done this before and there’s nothing else I can say. So to go off at a tangent…
The first six years of my life were the happiest, although I only remember snapshots.
My dog Bunty who Dad and I found in a wooden pen in a pet shop as a tiny puppy. She was my best friend.
Losing a cardigan my aunt has sent me for my birthday and mum had to buy me another one. Who puts a cardigan on a three year old on a warm June day? Of course I took it off, and dropped it.
Starting a protest March for food because dad went from weekly pay to monthly and you didn’t get in help in those days. We couldn’t afford pudding and I was outraged.
Then deciding to leave home, getting my dad to put all the food in the pantry into a bag, then taking his hand and telling him to come along. He asked why he had to go and apparently I told him patiently that I was three and needed someone to look after me. Silly man. He had the devil’s own job persuading me to stay.
The sweet peas that grew so tall they fell forward and hung over the washing line.
Our first car and being so proud that I could read the numberplate out when dad asked: YPK 609.
Bunty getting pregnant and the cute puppies.
Nan and grandad; auntie Diane and Uncle Brian; my auntie Joan and my cousin Valerie; auntie Florrie; nanny Jo; uncle Joe; auntie Cis and uncle Levis, who had the craziest dog in the world. Rover. Auntie Nin and uncle Alf, their son John and my cousin Vicky. So much love surrounding me.
The simplicity of life. We had very little, our house was condemned, but we were happy. We had more money after that and nothing improved.
I’ve had many amazing people in my life; 14 beloved cats who have kept me sane and given me somewhere to put all the love I have. But those years are enshrined in my memory as special.
Because grandad was there and I was loved.
I feel so lucky and grateful for these memories.
It’s been nice writing this. I’m thankful for the opportunity.
When were your happiest times? I hope they are right now and you’ve always been happy.
Best love
Amorah – Deb
