Are you a good judge of character?

I may have shared this image before but it’s pertinent to this post.
It’s too easy to judge a person based on what you see and hear, when you have no idea what’s going on in their lives, what their past was like, any violence or hardship they’ve experienced.
It is true that what you’re seeing and hearing may be obvious, or appear to be so, but it doesn’t mean that you’re picking up the truth. You’re judging with one of the 5 senses, the 5 senses make up the 6th sense and that’s the one you need to be using.
Actions speak louder that words
Is a universal truth, but it isn’t the full truth.
Those words and actions are driven by the background you may know nothing about. As such they’re a good indicator but not a flawless one.
Sixth sense
The psychic sense is based on how you feel when you’re with a person. To use it you have to quiet the noise of the mind, and park what you see and hear, and tune in.
Those of us who do use psychic skills are often extremely accurate but can also be surprising. We may like someone you’d happily throttle, we may warm to someone you find cold and distant. We pick up the real person below that created exterior, that hurt mind, that troubled soul.
How seeing and hearing aren’t enough
Nigel Farage is an interesting study on this subject. He is one of the most sensible speakers we have in British politics, clear, concise, and he often sounds right. Reasonable. Straightforward.
Personally speaking, he comes across to me as a person highly adept at promoting the right image, knowing exactly what people want him to say, and with an ability to be extremely convincing. Yet I can’t help feeling that every word he says is preceded and followed by the most complete self-interest I’ve ever seen. In fairness most people feel that about MPs, but he does stand out to me.
I may be wrong. I’m a good judge of character but not a flawless one. The question he answers though, the point he makes for me here, as one of the two main architects of Brexit is:
That despite the fact that Brexit has damaged this country in any number of ways, and Europe to some extent. Despite the fact that we’ve seen that proven, people still trust what they see and hear. Because it’s what they need to do.
Nigel Farage was one of the reasons we voted Remain.
However, the other architect of Brexit, the odious Boris Johnson, was not celebrating the next day. He was positively glum and despondent.
He said later that he only put the case for Brexit as he felt that the Conservatives should have been providing both options to the public. So he came across as very convincing and didn’t mean it. I will admit, he beat me on that one hands down. Which is why I never feel that I can say I’m perfect at picking up anything.
That’s where tuning in makes the difference. Getting a feeling of a person, but it’s not the only step. You still have to do the actions and words thing, and you must wait. BJ needed more of that time. Some need more than others as they’re rather good with appearances.
No matter what anyone thinks, how good they believe they are at judging character, people are unique and they can change. Plus let’s face it, when life is hard we often come across as tense and snappy, when it isn’t we come across as sunlight and ease.
Always give a human being time, we all deserve that.
