Retired Writer

What alternative career paths have you considered or are interested in?

Which I am.

I never really wanted a career, or to work. It’s not that I’m lazy it’s just that I didn’t have time to find out who I was.

At 16 I was looking forward to my O’Levels, then A’Levels, then university. I came home one day to find out I had a job interview in London for something I’d never heard of, and I would be leaving school. My heart broke, my world was shattered, and I was too young and naive to think anything other than my life was ruined. It was awful.

I just did as I was told, I had no choice, and I was stuck from then on. I did eventually get two degrees, but through an unfortunate set of circumstances I had to return to my work in admin. All that work to land up back where I started with two useless bits of paper.

I was only ever interested in writing, and the good news is that I can do that for as long as I like! You’re never too old.

It’s so easy to let the ideas and thoughts of others take over your life, but nowadays we are a lot more aware. We know this shouldn’t happen. I was raised when you did as you were told or else.

So if you do feel pushed into something you don’t want. Pack a bag, take yourself away on your own or to a friend’s, and stop and think.

Then when you know what you want, go for it. Only you can stop you.

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
