Book Snippet: Sacred cows P112

Oddly the idea of never give up isn’t a healthy one. There are times in your life that it’s necessary to let go and move forward.

There are times that resilience is a good thing, but there are times when stubbornly holding on can cause real damage to your mental health and life.

A sacred cow is a belief that prevents us from solving challenges and moving forwards. Something we hold onto a they only way of being, even though it’s holding us back. Something we put a lot of time into protecting, ever though it’s wrong for us.

It can take our focus from the rest of our lives, and although it often provides very well in one area, such as a well-paid job, it can damage everything else in our lives.

  • Holding on to worry as a habit.
  • Believing we can only earn money one way – with a day job.
  • Buying a computer then convincing ourselves we can’t handle technology.
  • Feeling that we will need more money in order to be financially safe. Yet never having quite enough.
  • Focusing only on work then wondering why your family is only interested in your money.
  • Hating being alone, wanting to be in a relationship, and refusing to go out and meet new people.

Take a moment to think about thoughts and ideas that hold you back. It’s a good idea to write them down in a journal, it will help you to gain clarity and work out what to do.

Never hold anything sacred or to be truth if it’s keeping you in a place of stress and unhappiness.

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
