I Can’t Go There

What would you do if you lost all your possessions?

It’s not that I’m into possessions, it’s that it would be too upsetting to even think about losing my treasured memories.

Stuff is just stuff, but something that belonged to your mum, photographs that document your life, items that have special meaning for you, just the thought of losing them is unbearable.

Of course you rebuild, but there are some things that you can never get back, and those are the things that matter.

Two of my favourites are my parents’ 21st birthday pictures. I get to see them when they were young, stunning, and just themselves.

I broke the glass in my mum’s picture a few months ago, and took it to a framer for repair. They did it there and then, which was lovely as I would have been cold sleeping outside the shop, and they wouldn’t charge me because it was a pleasure to repair something so precious. So it has another special memory attached.

I have dad’s silver dollar my uncle gave him, and a book he gave me. A box full of memories including a crucifix made from the wings of a Gipsy Moth (aeroplane) in WWI. Apparently the young soldier who carved it died the day after he finished it. I treasure it for him.

None of these things are worth a penny, except the dollar, but they mean so much.

I appreciate everything I have, but things like those above are what matters.

Of course, you all know that. 💖

Best love

A memory I’m glad I caught on camera 💖

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
