Book Snippet: Where am I? P32

One of the things that helped me to change myself and my life the most, was the move from believing I was purely human, to knowing that I am a soul in a human body that stops me flying off the planet! I don’t think Souls are subject to gravity in their natural state.

This might sound like the start of an impressive rebellion, but if you believe as I do then it’s a responsibility to be the change you want to see in the world. To be kind, respectful, courteous. To listen, ask questions, understand, and to avoid rudeness and disrespect, violence and all harm to anything, anyone, or any creature, and the planet. It’s a big ask but not a difficult one.

How does ‘being’ spirit work in the human world though? Here’s the answer from the book:

We think of heaven and the spirit realms as beautiful and act as though, in this life, we live in some non-place between birth and death. Let’s rearrange that thinking.

You’re on the planet Earth, which just happens to be situated in exactly the right place exactly the right distance from the sun in order to create the amazing eco system that supports life. This planet is a living miracle in action.

If we’re spirit, rather than just the result of a random collision between a sperm and an egg, then by definition this is a world populated by spiritual beings. Therefore it must be one of the spiritual realms where kindness, happiness, and joy should be the main emotions.

As a spirit world it should be subject to the same laws of love, tolerance and respect. We just need the same courage and kindness that exists in the hereafter.

Detractors from this thinking would consider it to be woo-woo and unrealistic. In some ways it is unrealistic, but on the other hand why can’t individuals choose to live a better way and be the change this world needs?

Whichever way you try to twist it, we don’t need anymore of the negative emotions on this Earth, but that’s the global take.

The summing up of this section covers this neatly:

  • You are spirit (and therefore a lot more flexible than you thought you were).
  • You live on the planet Earth, which supports your life perfectly.
  • It is a spirit world, and things will improve enormously for future generations if we act like we’re spirit.
  • Nowhere will there be a greater improvement than in your own mind and life.

This section ends with a question, based on the premise that we are spirit and therefore all old souls, and knew what we were doing when we came here because we planned it:

What do you think? Is it an empowering thought to be in the life you chose, at the time you chose, in the place you chose, with the people you chose? To know that you can change your situation any time you wish?

If you’re not happy you may wonder why you chose all this, but isn’t it better to feel that you have some power over your life that it was just one major accident?

I found this path as a result of terrible unhappiness, betrayal, and feeling completely lost. The idea that I chose my parents, family, friends, situation, worked for me. Because if I chose it, I could un-choose it. I wasn’t helpless. I was a powerful old soul.

You might feel the same sense of empowerment if this feels right to you, and it doesn’t come with a burden of guilt or stupidity. There’s a difference between choosing your parents while you’re in spirit, it’s believed to be an agreement that they will create you, and what happens to them after they’re born. Maybe they got hurt too, because no one would choose terrible parents and abuse. Just one example. Souls are too wise, but there is always the human factor. So don’t waste time and energy blaming anyone, spend it on creating change. If you want to know how to start:

If you think something has the potential to hurt you or negatively affect your life, stop, think, don’t do it.

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
