How to Suffer Fools Gladly

What skill would you like to learn?

The Fool from Tarot

The title is a little misleading because I don’t consider people who disagree with my world view to be fools. We can’t all see the world the same way and it would be tragic if we did. Boring wouldn’t begin to describe it.

Fools?

Is still the wrong word, but to me anyone who is aggressive, tries to tear people down, is violent, nasty, a bully, who starts a war, is not a fool, they’re another breed.

They may want their children to grow up in a safe world, yet don’t realise they’re the ones helping to poison it. I can’t understand the mindset.

What’s gone on in recent history should have been enough to make humans more accepting, compassionate, and connected. It’s unbelievable enough that there was one world war, let alone two, let alone this.

But we don’t want to be thinking about that.

Hit the change button

It’s time for us who believe in a fair, equal, respectful, safe world for all to stand up and say so.

The only thing necessary for evil to triumph in the world
is that good men do nothing.

Edmund burke

For men read people. For people read ‘you’.

If we want to keep suffering fools gladly we know what to do. Be silent, do nothing, and hope.

Hope yes, but be noisy and say no. I don’t believe violence ever cures violence, that harsh words thrown between opposing sides ever do any good.

I do believe that the more people who say no, won’t accept what’s going on, and speak out, the better. At least it represents a chance for change.

Never let the idea that a few people are more powerful than millions. It simply isn’t true.

We don’t need fools suffering, we need peaceful people raising their voices for peace.

The Fool was the perfect image for this post. In the Tarot there are two sections, the Major and Minor Arcana, the first representing human concerns, the second representing spiritual ones.

The 21 cards of the Major Arcana are also known as The Fool’s Journey. The Fool is a happy-g0-lucky chap who sets off on his life journey as a child who knows nothing. Innocent, unspoilt, just seeking to learn and grow.

That’s the only kind of Fool we need in this world. People who are willing to keep learning, changing, connecting. Realise they don’t know everything and are not always right. Explore all the ways life can be approached, and who help the world to grow into a better place.

Those people are often dismissed as fools because they believe in a better world and trying to be the change the world needs. Those people are right.

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
