Erm…Work…Or…

List three jobs you’d consider pursuing if money didn’t matter.

Now that’s the ultimate Queen!

This is more interesting than your average question.

Three jobs indicates a career, in which case Prime Minister, Queen, or chocolate maker.

I’m obviously not serious about any of them, and I can’t cook, but they’re things I think I’d find interesting and probably very annoying.

Getting serious

To me a career as a writer is far more than a job, it’s a vocation. Writers work from the heart, soul, and muse.

I would have loved to have been a playwright on the grounds that I’d tend to use a lot of comedy but with a strong message. People could go to laugh, be encouraged to think, or both. I like audience choice.

Speaking and a beautiful dress, what’s not to love?

Public speaking would always be on the table for me, in fact it’s just landed on my table (via my phone) again.

I love speaking to people and seeing if I can help them to heal, and inspire them to create the change they want to make in their lives.

I particularly like taking apart the ‘only human’ idea and drawing out how incredible we humans are and can be. It’s an extrapolation of having elements of the Big Bang in our DNA. If that doesn’t make us more than we can possibly imagine what does?

Being given an audience and a chance to help makes me so happy.

Job though?

The idea has this effect on me

It doesn’t matter who you are, if you can find work that doesn’t feel like work, you are one of the luckiest people on earth.

A job doesn’t interest me. Connecting and helping, creating laughter, inspiring, uplifting, these things do.

Whether that’s a play, a talk, a workshop, it doesn’t matter. These are the things I would pursue if money didn’t matter.

If it didn’t I could hire halls, find my own actors and backstage teams, employ producers. I could publish a book without a second thought. I could mount advertising campaigns on social media.

Without the money, much as everyday life is, everything is much harder. I still do what I want to do, but my reach is limited by not only the expense, but how to cut through the sheer overwhelming numbers of people doing the same thing. Especially when you’re up against the giants in every field.

I’m not negative about it, I won’t stop, but lots of money would definitely grease those wheels of forward momentum.

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
