The Plan

What’s your all-time favorite album?

The Osmonds

I was a great fan of theirs when I was young and I’ve never lost my love for their music. Wayne, top left, was known as one of the greatest rock guitarists of his time, and wrote a great deal of their music.

The Plan was a cradle-to-grave album that covered all the stages of life. It wasn’t just that I loved the songs, I loved the theme and the messages within it.

My parents once complained that I liked a weird Mormon group, I replied with “I follow a group that doesn’t drink, swear, take drugs, sleep around, lie, cheat, or steal. They love their parents, and are strong on family. What’s not to love? Should I model myself on (some drug taking anarchist whose name I forget right now)?” They saw the point. Oddly the Osmonds never pushed their religion.

However…

Barry Manilow came along

And the Osmonds faded into the past. For me my favourite song of Barry’s is hard to pick, Sweet Heaven is definitely one. My favourite album though is much easier.

“Manilow”, although that was his first album not to reach the top 40 and receive gold certification. I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway. Sweet Heaven is on there.

There is one song though that became an anthem for those who’ve been hurt “I made it through the rain”. That meant a great deal to me as a younger person, and helped me make sense of what I was going through. I will always owe him for that.

So I followed a ‘clean’ family loving group, then an eco activist who set up his own charity to save our seas and marine life. Not too shabby.

I’ll leave you with one thing he said, that completely changed my life.

Don’t give up your dreams – you deserve the best

Best love

Happy dreaming – which I’m going to be talking about soon

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx

  1. My eldest sister loved The Osmonds and even managed to get their autographs back in the day. I had a thing for David Cassidy. Great post and I love that quote by Barry Manilow 😊❤️

    1. Thank you so much. I was an Alan fan. Did like David Cassidy though, very much.

That quote gave me the strength to end a bad marriage. I realised ex would never leave me, I would have to be the one to make the decision.
