A plea for the future

I know I’m not alone in thinking that someone needs to do something about the state of our world and societies.

If you look at the behaviour of world leaders, governments, and rather too many ordinary people, you cannot fail to see that this world is deteriorating and they are doing nothing. Except the leaders that are making things worse and dragging us back to the 20th Century.

I never remember a time in my life when there was so much violence, so much unkindness, and now we have the trolls on social media to cope with. But what is the answer?

Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world, indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

Margaret Meade

I fell in love with this saying years ago, and it’s never been more pertinent. All the time we’re wondering who should be doing something, we’re not doing anything.

I know it’s not easy, all I have is my writing and social media posts and it doesn’t feel like enough. Except that every good voice, every plea for peace, respect, and inclusion, is a blessing in this world.

I may not have the reach of the great peacemakers, but does that mean I don’t try? I don’t think so; anything is better than nothing.

Facing down a tyrant

Isn’t something most of us will ever be able to do. Walking up to a leader who has started a war and saying “stop it now” will make no difference whatsoever. That doesn’t mean we shut up.

We’re past the time for silence, we need to be speaking out wherever we can. Closing down trolls on line, reporting things that are wrong or inaccurate, speaking respectfully to others, and treating them with care and humanity.

We who can discuss should be driving discussions, trying to get people talking together, listening to each other. We writers must keep writing.

We need to realise that we can do our part to stand up for humanity

Never think you’re not important, remember that many hands make light work, and the more people you can reach the better.

The best way to lead is by example, and there are millions upon millions of us who can do that.

Best love

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
