How do you celebrate holidays?

You celebrate holidays by taking lots of pictures and bringing home amazing memories.
Of course this question is in American terminology, so it probably means things like Christmas and Independence Day.
All such holidays have different traditions in different countries. Nowadays, with multiculturalism we see many holidays celebrated which we would not have seen years ago, such as Eid and Diwali, but I’m not of those cultures.
Whether we’re talking a fortnight away or a cultural holiday, the common denominator that makes them special is family. Except that doesn’t hold true for everyone because not everyone has a family. I haven’t had a family Christmas for decades.
As such it’s a wide ranging question with many answers, that I don’t have an answer to as we haven’t had a holiday since 2014, and thanks to our shops and supermarkets I’m bored with our cultural holidays weeks before the event. Here’s how it goes:
- Immediately Christmas is over Easter Eggs appear in the shops.
- In August Halloween items appear in the shops. We don’t even celebrate Halloween here, officially.
- In September Christmas items adorn the shelves.
- The January sales start before Christmas.
- The end of summer sales start at the beginning.
- Mid-season sales pop up randomly.
As such I have no idea what month it is, what I’m supposed to be celebrating, which season it is, or what happens next.
So if I did celebrate it would probably be the wrong thing on the wrong day for the wrong reason, and my sale shopping would be wrong season.
It’s all too much so I read books and pretend none of it is happening.
Best love as always
