Happy Through & Through

Sunflowers are sun on the ground

Describe your ideal week.

The ideal is happiness
To wake up and return to sleep
Happy

To do this you must seek
to be happy
all the time

Ridiculous they say
those detractors
those ‘realists’

But there is more than one
kind of real
We don’t all have to choose
the same version of reality

Struggle is not natural
it just happens sometimes

I want to choose the best reality
Would you like a small piece of chocolate?
I want the shop!

Aim for the moon
and you may at least get to dance
among the stars

But aim for the stars
and you will never reach the moon
I want to be over the moon

All the time
Every day
As often as I can

And I don’t aim
to miss

Pretty fluffy?

Yes this is the prose-poem of an optimist., but I’ve never worked out why I would want to be a pessimist, or realist. After all, we all define our own real. Some people choose not to embody misery, struggle, and frustration.

Sometimes it’s really hard to keep a happy mindset, especially if life has curve balls on repeat, and we can’t be unrealistic. However, we can always dream.

If I’m feeling low I find it helpful to shut my eyes and just imagine something better, something that would make me happy, even a holiday and imagine myself walking along beautiful beaches, at the top of the mountain, or sitting in my favourite spot under the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The times I’ve picked my emotions up off the floor just by stopping for a few moments and breaking the cycle of hurt thinking.

Try this

Close your eyes.
Breathe easily no need to do anything special.
Imagine that above your head is a white light.
Breathe it into every cell of your body.
The imagine a beautiful golden light.
Breathe it into your body.

Stay in that space for a moment knowing that the white light is cleansing you, and the golden light is supporting and protecting you. To me that’s God’s light.

If you prefer different coloured lights because they mean something to you, that’s fine.

You may want a positive mantra to repeat; mine is freedom, happiness, and perfect health. You can find something that states clearly the good things that you want in your life and use that. I borrowed mine from a book.

Just make sure it’s too simple to forget, and represents exactly what you want. I’ve been thinking of adding financial abundance to mine. Develop it as you go.

Best love

Don’t aim for second best because others don’t believe in first best, especially when life’s getting you down. That’s the time to ignore everything, including reality, and shoot for the moon.

I’d put up a picture of last night’s red moon, but we had full cloud cover. Sigh.

Here’s the book

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
