With Living in Mind

How would you design the city of the future?

Horrible isn’t it? Designed by AI

I think this shows that AI sees no improvement in human behaviour or the human lifestyle. It foresees us cramming people upwards, isolating us in apartments, and still driving everywhere. I see something different.

This is futuristic city, low level, public transport, gathering spaces. I’m scared it’s what will happen!

A railway station is not a gathering space, and what’s the round thing for?

Why can’t a futuristic city include low level housing? Probably because AI is expecting a continued population explosion. Does it not include green spaces because it’s programming suggests there won’t be room? Does it foresee a time when it’s all work and no play?

Will metal be the only building material left because we’ve hacked every tree down?

I wanted a vista but this is too gorgeous to ignore

This is what we need. Space, air, and a connection to the natural world. We need cities that are villages, every area different. With gathering spaces on every estate.

I visualise town squares everywhere, vertical vegetable gardens on each house, greenhouses growing fruit. Restaurants where you can eat outside, meeting up with neighbours. Rebuilding community.

Each city should include smaller halls, dance halls, a cinema. There should be one big events centre for music and shows, exhibitions, and films, and huge holiday gatherings. We really need to connect.

Humans will never stop killing until we build connections and don’t see other people as expendable to our egos.

Is violent crime on the rise because we don’t connect anymore? I feel it’s a major factor.

I would build a space of connection and community, where you would know, live, and take care of thy neighbour. Why have nursing homes, disabled facilities, and retirement homes when someone can pop in before work, someone else will take their kids for a visit at 11 and sort out coffee and biscuits? Another person will do lunch and have a chat. Someone will pick up the shopping on the way home, and another neighbour will go in during the evening to make their friend drink and ensure the person is safely in bed. All that’s needed then is a regular health check visit as needed.

United we stand

Until we have world leaders who are not protectionist and scared, we will have wars. Western Europe has had two terrible wars, and yet starting with Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, bless them all, we have built cooperation and support.

They’ve even been gracious enough to accept the UK back into the fold, after the appalling lie that was Brexit. I’m hugely grateful to them, and we should be standing beside them all the way. They blow me away, standing together against all forms of suppression.

The way to unite is to connect at a local level, let that expand out to a national level, then deliver it world-wide.

My world would have no money. Everyone does a day’s work and had coupons for a reasonable amount of food, clothing, and supplies. No more of the few owning most of the world and making the many work for them, stealing their lives for a pittance. No more a few having everything and too many having nothing.

Divided…

I guess I don’t want to build a city, I want to build peace, respect, and inclusion, one square at a time.

Because divided we fall.

Best love

Wishing you and yours nothing but health and abundance in all good, great, and wonderful things. Wherever you are.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
