Excuse Me! What?!

Are you seeking security or adventure?

In my heart this is me.

I am to adventure what oil is to water, we just don’t mix.

I obviously have travelled, but in a carefully controlled manner. I went to Arizona once with an old acquaintance, she saw this freaking high tower of rock and decided to see if she could climb it. I did not understand the point.

She asked if I heard her calling when she got to the top. I said yes and I ignored her in case she was stuck. Do something that crazy and you’re on your own.

To me I climb up only to come down to the same place. I say the same with skiing.

You expect me to strap myself to two pieces of wood, get on a seat hanging by a thread, be hauled up a mountain. Then undertake a barely controlled slide down said mountain, only to land up right here? Hello! I am here, mission accomplished.

Believe me, with my balance at the time it wouldn’t even have been a barely controlled crash!

I have a vision of me face-planted in the snow, reaching out an enfeebled hand to write “Told you so” beside me. Possibly with a few swear words “You ***** and ****** and *****”. It would not have been ladylike.

No, I don’t put make up on and do my hair to risk messing both up trying to be someone else.

My adventures

I love reading any novel set somewhere else. You might ask ‘why not books on travel?’, because beautiful though they are, a good writer can take you to that place, they can lead you up that mountain, you can even ski down.

I love books, travelogues, and any film set anywhere I’ve never been. Mind you if Italy is involved I’m watching it! I’ve been there many times.

They can bring a place alive for you. Most of the places on my ‘to visit’ list, were first drawn to my attention in novels and films, but particularly novels. Writers (and of course film writers) put a soul into a place. They make it real, attractive, impossible to not want to visit.

So yep, I’m one of the most boring, least adventurous people on the planet.

Unless you consider that my life has been an adventure. Not always a nice one, too much of it was a bit like risking your life in a shopping basket suspended over a drop into 20 feet of snow including hidden rocks!

However, I’ve been through so much in the way of change, such development as a human, and as a result tried so many things I would never have tried, that I am in fact a subtle adventurer.

Imagine if you will, being a Medium. You stand in front of an audience, waiting for a spirit connection, and if they don’t connect or can’t connect with your energy, you are going to have the most eggs on any face in recorded history. That takes a different kind of strength and courage.

Fortunately it works at least 90% of the time.

Yep I’ve adventured in my way, but oh the places I visit now, you’d have to see them to believe them. But you’d have to believe in order to see them. 😉

As always

Much love to you all

Stay cool, and remember that rolling sleeping people out from the shade of a tree so that you can avoid spontaneous combustion, is understandable, but it’s still wrong.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
