What time do you go to bed and wake up currently?

I wake up at nine am, but I’m rarely asleep before one am. Not working allows for an authentic body clock.
I really wake up at four pm. If I’m going to write it will be then. I can tell you when it’s four without looking at my watch. The muse seems to connect at that time. Wonder what dimension mine lives in?
There, thrilling answer. It takes me ages to get going in the mornings, but I can easily still be going at midnight.
I thought that was it, that this was just going to be a pretty short blog, but an important point came to mind.
Know and respect thyself
Especially mind and body.
I realised long ago that I should have worked in entertainment, much of which happens in the evening. My body clock is entirely suited to it. I’m a playwright at heart.
I would have been far better off had I done so as I’ve always known that mornings and I don’t mix well. Listening to myself and my body would have saved so much angst.
I just can’t get to sleep at 10 pm. I used to lay awake worrying about the fact that I wasn’t asleep. There is a very funny scene in the series Friends where Chandler tells the “If I go to sleep now I’ll get 7 hours sleep…6 hours sleep…” story. That countdown is stressful.
So know who you are, work with that as best you can, try to fit your life and work to that person.
A bit deeper
Much as the western world would like us to focus only on work, that’s entirely the wrong focus.
Who you are is still the right focus
Don’t go for a degree in something academic if you love gardening, that’s the perfect place for you. You can easily become a millionaire gardener, even a tv presenter. It’s not a dead-end job at all.
You could own your own garden centre complete with coffee shop, kids playground, and so on.
It’s tempting in this world to feel that you’re nobody without a degree. If you don’t get work in your field a degree becomes simply a piece of paper useful for putting away in a cupboard. Unless your mum frames it.
Even if you do work in the area of your degree, it won’t matter anywhere near as much as your experience. They say a degree is useful for two years, that’s all.
Work out who you are and what you love, go in that direction, you will never regret it.
If it fits in with your sleep patterns all the better.
There’s such a thing as a midnight gardener, right?
Best love
Happy day
