Who is your favorite historical figure?

Odd one I know as my religion isn’t attached to a church. As my mother once said “Jesus could pray anywhere and so can I”.
To me following anything good has to be about who you are 24/7, not just at specific times in specific places. To follow the word not the interpretation.
The man the myth and the legend
It’s very had to truly know who Jesus was, or even what he was.
It’s entirely possible that he survived the cross, he said himself that he would not die on the cross and he would rise again. He did that. There are many theories that he didn’t die because he had help from the Centurion guarding the cross, who was known to be a follower.
The record of his life, the New Testament, was written many years after his death. Have you ever asked yourself who Luke is? Matthew, Mark and John, yes, disciples. Luke?
Choices were made as to whose work to include in the New Testament. The gospel of his friend, Peter, was left out. Luke may be another name for Lazarus, but no one is sure. Just who wrote that book?
There’s so much to question, but the book I read that upset everyone years ago because it questioned the resurrection,“Jesus Lived in India”, was adamant about one thing, Jesus was honest and made no grand claims. His words were clear but could be viewed in different ways.
I love him because he preached love and tolerance, he threw money lenders out of the synagogue, he embraced tax collectors, prostitutes, and the poor. No I don’t believe that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute, I believe that she was his wife, but he welcomed all to his side. He stood up for the little guy and acted on his beliefs.
You can never verify ancient history, and questioning it is important. But like the authors of the book, I never question Jesus. His name has lived on, his life story was written, because of the impact he made.
A son of God who described himself as the son of man. To me it doesn’t matter, it’s who he was and the message he left behind that matters. That message was love. The Lamb of God not the lion. Through him God was asking for peace.
When they came to arrest him he didn’t arm his many followers and ask them to fight, thus causing untold harm and death, he went quietly, endured pain and humiliation, and took the punishment himself. What’s not to love?
Would that the warmongering world leaders did that now and left us out of it!
Protecting my authenticity
My ‘guardian’ question that protects my integrity and makes sure I’m living authentically, is always:
WWJD?
What would Jesus do?
I’d like to know that right now, although where would he start? God gave us the power to create change and has sent many messengers, it’s about time it was the public who listened, heard, and said no in their millions. Way past time.
No to war.
No to violence against all living things.
No to intolerance, rudeness, and spite.
No to lying, cheating, and stealing.
No to trolling.
No to grooming and child abuse.
No to animal abuse.
No to harming the Earth.
Yes to respect and inclusion.
Yes to the right for all to live a long and happy life.
This is WJWD.
And I love him.
I love you too, because – why wouldn’t I?

I love how you write, and how you view things. Belief in something that is everyone choice. And you should not be persecuted for your beliefs- but people are!

Thank you Pat, I admire you as a writer and enjoy your work so that means a lot. I’m being with catching up with my blog reading thanks to a mum-in-law struggling and the Google/Apple/Facebook hacking. But I will catch up.
I’ve come to honestly believe that love is the only pathway worth walking. 💖
