Tricky Question Nowadays

What countries do you want to visit?

It’s hard to know where to go now.

  • Nowhere at war, near a war, or where there might be a war. That counts America out as well.
  • A lot of Europe don’t want tourists, so it’s a bit awkward wanting to go there. Research is needed.
  • Nowhere too hot or too cold.
  • Nowhere much in the UK, I remember how diverse and amazing it was 30 years ago. I barely recognised Keswick when we went in 2017, all the unique craft shops have moved on line, and why fight through traffic for 6 hours to visit Mountain Warehouse and charity shops, we have them ten minutes away?
  • I would love to visit Scotland again but allegedly many of them aren’t keen on the English, although we were treated with nothing but kindness when we were there. I think it’s unlikely that I’ll be harangued by an outraged man in a kilt, although if the rumours about what a Scotsman doesn’t wear under his kilt are true it could be an experience that makes it worth the risk. 😉

Sometimes I feel that I’ve missed my chance to visit places like Venice and feel comfortable, it sounds a bit like our holiday centres. People bought the houses up as Air BNB’s, leave them empty, locals can’t buy a house so they have to move away. No one there to shop or visit pubs. It destroys communities. I don’t want to add to that for them.

Many places in Europe have similar problems. I wish there was a ‘Tourists Welcome’ website where you could check. I would also never stay in an Air Bed and Breakfast. They’re a selfish undertaking.

So where would I like to go? Firstly any holiday would be nice. I haven’t had one since 2017. Before that 2014. Before that 2003. Just the odd weekend away.

Most of Western Europe. Most of America. Canada. Brazil. The Mediterranean countries. Japan. Australia looks stunning. New Zealand has so much to offer. The far east would probably be too hot and humid for me.

“What did you see in Cambodia Deb?”

“Well they have the most amazing ceiling fans, the curtains were lovely, gorgeous en-suite. And the room service was exceptional. They did say that their only serve me food in a cold bath if I put a swimsuit on though!”

I can do hot but humid turns me into a wet dish rag, and that isn’t a look I want to embrace! Plus I don’t have the energy to blink in humid weather.

I have always wanted to visit the Holy Land (not just Israel the whole area). I’ve dreamed of walking in Jesus’ footsteps. Just standing still and wondering “did he stand here?”

However, as they’re making every attempt to get his footsteps blown off the face of the earth, one way or another, I think I’ll leave that one to my dreams.

You see I love the man. The Lamb of God. A warrior for peace, respect, inclusion, and love. Along with the great prophets, the Buddha, it would be a privilege to walk in any of their footsteps.

God is love

They are l love. We should be.

What better holiday than to connect with that?

Best love

I wish you all peace and safety with all my heart.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
