What are you good at?

I am a trained public speaker and it’s a natural fit for me. For a start I can talk for Britain, but I also love to use my voice for good. Too many don’t.
However, it would also surprise people to know how many hours I can spend in total silence. Most days I used to do little more than call cats and tell them how gorgeous they all are.
It’s an odd thing, but having run my brother a distant second as a child (think telescope required), I’ve always reassured all my cats that I love them all the same. That they’re all important.
No they don’t understand but I do. I understand that I’ve taken a hurtful aspect of my life and allowed it to make me a more thoughtful person, rather than a bitter one.
Unfortunately my brother’s popularity worked against him, and I know that he has struggled throughout his life because of it. I love my brother and it worked against both of us, yet I think he suffered more. I could see it coming and I warned them. Being the favourite is not all it’s cracked up to be.
I also understand how hurt my parents were by life, and I love them for how hard they tried. I recognise that now as I couldn’t as a child.
Having meandered down this route I realise that the point is:
Allow the things that hurt you in life to turn you into a kinder and more compassionate person. Never let someone else’s damage poison your life. Let it make your life.
It turned me into a writer, then speaker, and I do my utmost to use my voice for good. It’s a privilege to be able to be that person, an honour that I’m aware I must live up to.
I’m grateful for my past, and for the people who helped me to overcome it. Especially to my Guides. If you want pure advice go to God/Spirit.
So yes I speak, I’ve won competitions, so I know I’m good at it. I’m trained to be good at it.
I write, and that seems to go down well. There are people who sleep with my book beside their bed, always there in time of need as it was intended to be.
This very human woman, born from her own struggles, is phenomenally grateful that she can support others, loves doing that, and can’t think of any better work/not work she could possibly do.
Because YOU matter
Best love for a lovely day.

I want to read that book. I think I’ll enjoy your motivational speech when I have a chance, Deb.

Thank you Hazel. I’m still searching through old back ups to try to find it. I don’t think I have a video of one but I will have a look. I might.
