The Desiderata
I prefer not to talk because I’m a real chatterbox and it makes me uncomfortable. I have an opinion on most things. I also have a very weird problem-but-not-problem.
Apparently my voice carries a healing vibration. I can connect with animals by speaking to them, and I’ve noticed that my voice takes on different tones when I’m trying to help and support people. It happens naturally. I’m the person you need when your child can’t sleep. My voice tones were noted when I was a Toastmaster.
When I’m at a party people come up to me and just want to chat. I once apologised for chatting away and a lady said “honestly, don’t worry, I’d be happy to sit here and listen to you read out a shopping list.”
I’m a born public speaker and you can’t afford to be a quiet person when you can do that, talking non-stop for two hours comes with the territory. When I’m speaking people don’t fidget, which is a good sign. I get smiles and laughter which is the best sign. If they’re helped there is nothing better.
It’s a coin toss
That’s all very well and good and I’m truly grateful for the ability to reach and help people. But like everything there are two sides.
The other issue is that I’m interested in politics. Yes that. Many people take no responsibility for their votes. They vote and ignore the outcome. I can’t. It affects every single area of our lives.
I tried it myself but couldn’t stand the games. When you see lowly conservative counsellors sitting opposite local business people nodding and winking at them it turns your stomach. I also couldn’t stand the public threats.
So for me considering politics and what’s going on is a high priority that bores most people. Plus most want to think everything is the responsibility of politicians and the rich. Which is a) not true, and b) an exercise in complete powerlessness.
Pointing out the free will clause rarely goes down well. It’s remarkable how few will take responsibility for their own lives. If you do you’re incredible. Never doubt it.
It gets worse
I’m woke. Actually I’m awake to the needs of others but you’ll never explain the difference to the un-woke. Imagine a conversation with me if you start running someone else down, it is not comfortable. Especially if you get into skin colour (gift wrap) or gender.
I’m blessed that I can discuss anything. I’m reasonable, baby I was born that way, my red lines are prejudice, violence, lying, cheating, stealing, abuse, and murder. Told you I was reasonable.
I also dislike crap such as “I hate the English” there are over 40 million of us! Substitute English for whatever race some idiot thinks they can hate wholesale.
I particularly loathe “I hate them for what they did centuries ago in a battle in which we also took part.” We were regularly invaded by the Scots popping over the border, and the Picts nipping over from Ireland. I can’t remember what we did to the Welsh but it was clearly something. And no I’m not proud of our history, we did our fair share of wrong.
Why on earth would I historically hate anyone for what they didn’t do to me? Especially when you consider that I believe in reincarnation. You never know who you’ve been in the past and what you got up to.
Hating only poisons you. I’m also not stupid.
So…
In reasonable company
I’m interested in everything. I’ll talk about anything. I like learning.
But I actually do enjoy silence, hours of it, and that’s very handy at times.
