Sparingly

How do you use social media?

Me navigating the garbage out there!

Firstly, Happy Easter to all who celebrate, and Happy Day to all who don’t.

Hands off the macaroons, they’re gluten free!

Now social media.

I barely use it, I’ve deleted everything but Facebook because I have true friends on there, and people I love to be connected to. It’s where I follow most of my inspirers, and have my own page: Amorah – Deb Hawken.

However, the business side of Facebook is toxic now. You go on and it’s advert after promoted post, and many of them are rubbish and often rather opinionated. Then there are the sensational but completely untrue headlines aimed to get you to click their link. Sigh.

I liked following the England Football Team, but the fans! They constantly told them they were rubbish and then wonder why they don’t do well. The energy we send out matters folks!

Social media can be emotionally dangerous, but of course we know that. We’ve seen an aspect of humanity that has made the fair-minded wonder at the state of our collective societies, in horrified terms.

However

It’s important to change this narrative, because if Jesus did die round about now, remembering that calendar dates have changed many times, He certainly didn’t die for us to focus on this toxicity.

Whether Jesus was a man, or a story, or both, doesn’t matter. He is an icon for treating others decently, for standing up for the little guy, for fighting oppression and dishonesty. A beacon against all power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The animal He’s most often illustrated with is the lamb, The Lamb of God. The message there is clear, everything can be worked out without violence. Gentleness can win if it’s met with respect.

If He stayed on social media I’m pretty sure he would unleash some very stern words and petition Dad for lightening bolts. He might even do the young challenger thing and ask if they could discuss free will, and why the heck God thought that was a good idea.

What he wouldn’t do would be to engage with that toxic environment, but he would do what the decent do, and share love and support with those who need it.

He’d see both sides of social media, and he would most certainly work on the kind side, with a side order of kick-butt ‘are you actually serious, you think you can talk to other humans like that? Allow me to explain why you can’t!’

He would be balanced, compassionate, understanding, and firm. As we ought to be. As we must be. WWJD?

What Would Jesus Do?

That’s what we should do, fearlessly stand by those who need our protection and support and stand up to those who want to cause nothing but hurt.

You Guys

I want to finish by pointing out who you are.

Every blog I read on here, and I read a good few, is written positively, thoughtfully, and they’re either thought-provoking, extremely interesting, or both.

I have the privilege of a window into worlds I can’t visit, and an opportunity to understand peoples I will never meet.

I have never read one line I considered to be nasty or uncalled for!

You are what this world needs, and I applaud your efforts and your talent.

Love to all

Much love to my fellow bloggers

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
