Car if I have to

You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, car, or bike?

The old Queen Mary – Dad was the Cinematographer

Car because UK public transport is expensive and terrible. HS2 was meant to help link the North West to London. It’s been halved.

It was so badly managed, problems building the route weren’t accurately identified, that it’s rocketed over budget to the point they’ve stopped half way. Sometimes I think we’re the most inefficient country in the world.

We have a saying that some people couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery. With very few exceptions, those in charge of this country and its businesses couldn’t find the brewery.

The men running government and the Civil Service have got in the way of the men running businesses and services, some of whom are more focused on their own pockets and building an empire than the common good, to the point that the UK is something best not thought about too closely for reasons of insanity.

When it comes to travel, roads are congested, trains can be good but still err on the side of a nightmare; constantly late. Often hundreds waiting in stations for a train home.

We have growing mental health issues and the government seem surprised.

Buses are awful. Many places don’t have them. But travelling by public transport is also horribly expensive, and stressful. Airports have long delays, especially due to Brexit which complicated everything.

Bike? Hubby would choose a motor bike. I refuse to do my hair several times a day. Plus the roads are too busy and too filled with potholes for me to feel safe on a bike anymore.

This is the British sense of humour when it comes to potholes. It will at least help people to avoid them.

But in a better run country, I would go by train. Planes are great to fast-track you somewhere else, but not to immerse yourself in where you are. Trains give you more time to admire the scenery.

However, if it’s not cross country it’s a cruise ship all the way. I am my father’s daughter. He and mum sent me on a school cruise when I was 13, and I’m grateful beyond measure to this day. It was the most incredible experience.

Those experiences are what make you love life. No matter the issues with travel, it’s a way to be truly alive.

Best love and lots of it.

I'm a writer, public speaker, medium, and spiritual thinker. I suffered from acute anxiety from the age of 16 until I was well into my 50s, when I finally found methods that helped me to put it behind me. My struggles led to me exploring life through poetry, then plays, and over a 15 year period I made notes for a self help book which I published in 2015. Details on the book page. Although I am a psychic medium and loved the work, it didn’t feel right for me. It was an utter privilege, but my path was the exploration of what it means to be spirit in the real world and how we can make practical use of those abilities. Nowadays I write, blog, and teach soul-centred living, which is a gentle way of undoing past programming and connecting to your essential self, or soul. If you’re interested email me and we can chat. No pressure, it’s right for you or it’s not and you will know. The groups meet on line so no going out on cold, wet, winter’s evenings. On a personal note, I’m based in the UK. Married with five cats, no children, and four grandchildren, thanks to our inherited daughter, who has gifted us four beautiful little people that bring us such joy. Hope you enjoy the blogs. Deb xx
