Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes, and where they’ve taken you.

I bought a pair of boots in 1999, what we used to call Shoots, they came up higher than a shoe but didn’t go up to the ankle.
At first sight there was nothing exceptional about them, except they were so comfortable. They had a 3” stiletto heel, and I could walk for miles in them. I wore them in every season but summer.
They walked through my history degree, my computer science degree, loving university life. They shopped endlessly, ran for trains, walked the coast, went to Paris, Sedona, Switzerland, Sweden.
They lived in Trowbridge, Glastonbury, and up here in the West Midlands. traveled the country on holidays, visited friends, took me onto stages. If I had a choice I always wore them.
I had them re-heeled and re-soled regularly. Polished them, pampered them, loved them. Until the day that the balance went out as they’d been re-heeled so many times it was noticeable that I was tipped slightly backwards.
They had to go. I’ll never recover!
Oddly I have an identical tan pair, 26 this year, but they’ve never been quite as comfortable, which does mean they’ve lasted longer though.
I must wear them more, I’m far too fond of strolling around in trainers nowadays. I need to power walk in heels again!
To high heels and avoiding the cracks in pavements.
