Are you patriotic? What does being patriotic mean to you?

Patriotic means division.
The world is my country. It’s people are my people. The animal kingdom is my honour and privilege.
I couldn’t give a toss about skin colour, I want to know if you’re kind.
I couldn’t give a toss about gender, I will welcome with gratitude every friend I can get. Any person of any colour or any origin who likes me is a gift from God.
I will defend your right to be with every breath in my body, unless you’re a murderer, rapist, abuser, war monger, game playing politician, or business-person who thinks employing people means you own their lives. It makes me regret that your parents met.
I loathe all unkindness and have no respect for anyone who demonstrates it, if you need to tear someone down to make yourself feel good then you are the weakest of the weak. If you have to insult to prove that you’re right, bully to prove you’re strong, you are in fact pitiful.
The way you treat those you perceive to be weaker than you, defines you.
If you judge without asking questions, if you decide others are unworthy of you, then you have proven yourself unworthy. Not them.
When it comes to politics, politicians are servants of the people, not rulers. Their lies are transparent which tells us the state of our society: we vote for them so we are the problem. One ignored election would put them firmly in their place. But too many would be scared to do that in case the other side win.
We the people are powerless through our own choice.
As to the UK, why would I be proud of the countries, two of which want to get out of the union? Plus one area of Ireland going through great sadness because of our historic behaviour?
I’m proud to be a part of the people, the Scot’s are a brave race, the Welsh are our music and poetry, you might say our soul, the Irish are just the funniest, warmest, people. Including the Southern Irish who aren’t part of us but heck they’re neighbours.
The English, we’re not the exciting race, we’re the quieter one. We’re good at business, we used to be really easy going. We don’t mind that the others allegedly don’t like us, including Yorkshire and Cornwall who have both made independence noises. Would you believe. It’s okay to have strong feelings as long as you let us potter on.
They’d probably charge us a fortune to visit, and we’d probably laugh and holiday in Devon, or Lancashire.
That’s put the cat amongst the pigeons because the Yorks and Lancastrians have had a ‘thing’ since the War of the Roses in 1455. We’re all hoping it will end soon. 🤣
The Lancastrians are quieter about it though.
That microcosm of chaos on the tiny British Isles is repeated over and over again throughout the world.
Neighbour against neighbour. Nation against nation. Race -v- race. Left -v- Right.
We should all remember in life that there is left, right, and centre. And centre is where everyone returns to heal after major wars and upsets.
If the centre is strong the perimeter holds.
United we stand, divided we fall.
To prevent the fall we need to forget the extremes and come together to form a strong centre in which everyone can survive and thrive. Otherwise the extremes may think they’re winning but we will all die. It’s that simple.
A nuclear war in Europe would wipe out the Antipodes in 12 months. But the planet will recover.
It began from nothing and formed an incredible eco system, animal, and insect kingdom, without any help at all. Unfortunately it managed to manifest a huge hindrance, humans.
We need to start caring more all round. All of us.
Until that time English will be nothing more than an accident of birth, and no more important than the other accidental placements in this one world. You only have to look at the place to realise that we are one people.
I need no pride in being British. Being from the UK. Being white. Being female. I’m soul, I’m light, and I do my utmost not to darken this world.
I’d like to be proud to be human though, so if we can all make a bit more effort to be considerate, thoughtful, and kind, that would be most helpful
It’s not difficult, lose the I and be a we.
Love to all and everything, everywhere, all at once.
Deb xx
P.S. If we don’t shape up I might start to identify as cat.
